Jun 29 2009'Watchmen' Back in Theaters--and Now Incredibly Long!
If your primarily complaint about Watchmen was that it wasn't excruciatingly long enough, I've got some happy news, you: to promote Zack Snyder's director's cut on DVD, out July 21, the 25-minute longer edit will also be showing July 17 in venues in New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis! According to Box Office Mojo, just twenty-five thousand dollars in ticket sales should push the film's all-time domestic gross just above the Tom Hanks/Madonna/Rosie O'Donnell baseball comedy A League of their Own! Let's get Fandangoing!
For those on the fence about whether or not they want to sit all the way through the new, 186-minute Watchmen, understand that there will be a brief intermission when Alan Moore rushes the stage and disavows himself from both the film and society as a whole before finally being pulled off stage by security guards who assume the insane, caveman-haired man is a street vagrant.

Did I miss something? When did Minniapolis become a city worthy of a movie release?

They had to have one in enough major cities so that most of the country could possibly see it.
That or Omaha Nebraska.

Minneapolis has now become the pop-culture center of America. Where have you been?!

I was sitting in the theatre watching Watchmen. Apparently I am who watches the watchmen.

I don't think I could handle another 25 minutes of giant blue penis...

"I don't think I could handle another 25 minutes of giant blue penis..."
What an idiot. Go see a movie like Watchmen and only remember the penis, which wasn't giant and wasn't even on screen that much.
And I thought people would stop being assholes about this movie after Transformers 2, which sucked balls. But hey, as long as it's cool to hate it, let's all do it!

@ 7: Hey now. I, for one, didn't hate it because of the penis. I barely even noticed the penis! I hated in because I am slavishly devoted to the graphic novel, and every way Snyder changed it felt like a stab to the gut. And Malin Ackerman can't act. And they made Ozy a gawky effeminate German. And Nixon looked like a fucking cartoon. And the musical choices were largely jarring and distracting. And the gratuitous gore looked silly and computer generated. And the overall tone of the film seemed cheesily melodramatic and expository.
Also, what the fuck was up with that hallelujah scene?
But I'll still rent the extended edition on DVD.
8. If it's more Rorschach, okay - July 1, 2009 10:01 PM
it's not that we can't handle a blue penis it's just a joke that summed up how over the top the movie was. they should have cut that out and all the ridiculous sex scenes that looked like they were filmed by an 8 year old with little rockets firing at the end and all that baloney. you would think after the way the 300 was received someone might have done a screening and said, "now is there anything in this movie that seems, sort of hilariously silly and gratuitous?"
that said i still enjoyed the movie but i'd only go if they promised that it was 25 more minutes of Rorschach, who singlehandedly saved the entire film.

I think you have to take any work of art for what it is. This film still pays tribute to the theme of the novel despite the changes of recreating for film. His stylings with movement and attention to details are beyond "just another action flick" ; you should open yourself up to a new take. I think we all try to judge film because it's something everyone is supposed to know about and have an opinion of. I think we sacrifice the chance to enjoy good things many times because we judge it while viewing. Waiting to pick it apart for not being our own version. Go and do it better or pipe down. Stories that don't make it into new formats won't be passed down one day. Be happy a fragment like Watchmen is moving forward.
As Far as Transformers 2. If you paid to see the 1st one and went back for more. Shame on you. I think however that you got your money's worth on the 2nd film. There were more bots and I think a better storyline than the first. I do think some of the more intense action scenes lost a lot because there really is soooo much happening. I would like to see Zack's take on the 3rd.
I imagine that I will be let down by the new take on G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. I fear the fact there's a Wayans in it that it will be a little cheesy. The original Joe's were more hands on and not really in the realm of "Suited" Super Humans. Robotech what ?
