Jun 25 2009'Transformers 2' Had a Great Wednesday, Thanks for Asking
Maybe that MTV Movies Awards preview wasn't "so lame" after all. Transformers 2, a film that is by most accounts atrocious, yesterday had the highest ever Wednesday opening for a film. By early estimates, the robot punch-'em-up grossed $60.6 million, besting the previous record, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix's $44.2 million, by a wide margin, and coming within $7 million of The Dark Knight's highest all-time opening.
Just goes to show that... making a ridiculous movie based on a cartoon made to sell toys, and then making an even stupider sequel to that movie, is a good business plan? I don't know what it goes to show. Something depressing.

You all can eat it. Tell me the fight seen with Optimus in the field wasn't bad ass! He kicked some ass right before he died.

Now I know Optimus Prime dies.

i'm sorry but the racist scions were terrible. first off, TRANSFORMERS DON"T SWEAR! Even the decepticons were f*cking polite. i was pretty upset with that, but everything else was great. great action and the new idea for the film(not based on the cartoon at all) was swell, i guess.
I guess im just saying, if you're gunna spend millions of dollars, at least try to make people happy, and not just try to woo everyone with explosions and almost saying a badword

I wonder how all the pre-sale tickets are being a counted. With all the negative press and reviews ROTF (and Dick-bag Bay) are getting, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that $60 million included all the pre-sales and the movie goes on to make only a $10 million the rest of the weekend.

The only thing that I learned from Transformers 2 is that President Obama does not have a clear plan for the robot armageddon.
That is all.

Worst movie I've ever seen. I would have walked out if I hadn't been there with a bunch of friends.
Instead I sat there angrily waiting out the end of the piece of crap. By the way it's a long freaking movie. The session time was 12 noon and we got out at 2.30pm.

The movie sucked a foot long cock. Bay stuck his retarded dick in everything and fucked it. Action scenes were shot from 8" away so you couldn't see what was happening, the new robot characters were stupid, most of the new Autobots got a combined one minute of action, the dialogue was written by a fat twelve year old Dungeon Master, and everything looked uncoordinated.
There is nothing strong enough to overshadow the bad. Do not waste theater money on this. Go see Terminator again.
We all watched the cartoons as kids, doesn't make this acceptable. The first movie was amazing. Like Bay does, he fucked this one and will really fuck the next one if they let him make it.

i saw this movie at the midnight showig and have to say this:
ROBOTS FIGHTING= AWESOMESAUCE
this was an awesome movie, i say that beacause my defintion of awesome differs from the norm, as for me, anything with optimus prime is awesome. despite the robot fights, the dialogue was bad, the story actually was pretty interesting if you've read the comics and happened to watch Beast Wars as religiously as I did, the acting was passable (Shia Labeauf was the only one i noticed who put any effort in there, i was too busy looking at megan fox's boobs to notice if she was acting) the fight scenes were better than the previous movie, but the constant camera motion and incessant exploding made a few sequences a tad bit confusing. but i did enjoy Soundwave's "DECEPTICON" sentences.
overall so long as you are not looking for depth of story (its there, you just have to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the various transformers universe, specifically primus and the original thirteen transformers), decent acting, ave for one or two actors, witty dialogue, and ARE looking for things that go boom and robots fighting MEGAS XLR style its a good movie, although more of a guilty pleasure. It wasn't meant to be a masterpiece it was meant to be a mindless action movie, and there it succeeded. but i agree with everyone else THE TWINS WERE FUCKING ANNOYING i mean holy shit that was obnoxious of jar jar proportions sweet mother of god that shit was unnecessary.

Movie criticism jumped the shark at Speed Racer.

Saw it Wednesday, yea.
Was it stupid? Yes. Was it full of gratuitous explosions and shots of Megan Fox in a low-cut shirt running in slow mo? Yes. Was there a plot? No. Was it entertaining? Hell yes.
I was really pretty pleasantly surprised. It's definitely not going to be my favorite movie of the year, but it was worth the price of the ticket.

you are all rotten tomatoes tools. this movie is supposed to be mindless. what do you think you're supposed to get out of a transformer movie? go back and actually watch the cartoons those are horrible. its all about the nostalgia of the toys brought to life am i wrong? i figure if there are decepticons and autobots fighting there would be a shit ton of explosions. yeah yeah yeah michael bay directed a meat loaf video or two in his day but you're supposed to go into the theatre to be entertained. this is a blockbuster. it has tits ass explosions and action. get over your high and mighty movie egos and just enjoy it for once. you aren't enlightening any ones mind by being a critic of every little thing that didn't go your way in the making of a movie.

How the hell do you call this first movie amazing and dog on this one like it was some kind of revolutionary differentiation in shittiness? It's the same fucking movie. Blow for blow, it's the exact same thing the first one was only more of it.
The first one was mindless with poor dialogue, no plot and action that could hardly be followed. They had a racist Autobot in the first one. There were two in the second. There was a scantily clad hot chick in the first one. There were two in the second, plus a college full of unnaturally hot chicks. There were twice as many robots or more, the action was much more well paced so that very few scenes went by where shit didn't blow up or robots weren't prancing across the screen. If I'm not mistaken, a lot of people hated the first one for the long stretches with no robots. This one rectifies it in spades and you say it's worse than the first? What the hell were you expecting?

The only record this movie sets is for the most expensive movie tickets of all time, since its the newest released movie. That record will only stand until the theaters raise prices again. It would be interesting to see how many ticket sales it had compared to the record (probably not the same thing).

yeah guys whoever thinks this movie was bad needs to die in a whole, including the critic who made the original comment on it. This was a great movie regardless of it once being a cartoon. Who gives a flying f**k if it was, the acting was great, the fight scene animation was great, and the personalities were played out perfect...theres nothing to argue about, and saying it used to be a cartoon is the most rediculous reason for hating a movie
20. frank - June 28, 2009 9:48 PM
I got to see it for free, and I STILL wanted my money back at the end.
Mindless? Yes. Stupid? Yes. Entertaining? FUCK NO. This movie was goddamn painful to sit through. Michael Bay seems to have a theory that if everything is fast and loud enough, you won't notice how stupid it is. Guess again! Honestly, I didn't mind gratuitous explosions nearly as much as I minded gratuitous humor. A good half of the dialogue consisted of people screaming incoherently at each other, and the rest was unbearably unfunny jokes that should have been left out. Every time Shia's parents were on screen, I wanted to kill myself just to end the suffering. This movie was 5% cool robot battles, 20% confusing robot battles where you couldn't see what was going on, and 75% pure obnoxious bullshit.
And what the fuck was up with the transformer that looked like a normal human woman? WHAT THE FUCK?

I could'nt wait to see this movie and it was mad .
Anyone says that transformers 2 sucked has problems and needs to get bashed.
