Jun 5 2009See Arnold Digitally Fulfilling His Promise to 'Be Back'
With Terminator Salvation getting dismal reviews and less-than-stellar box office, Sony Pictures has decided on the last-ditch effort of showing their entire Termi-hand, and they've released a new television spot that reveals the much talked about cameo by a young, digital Arnold Schwarzenegger head pasted on a bodybuilder Roland Kickinger's frame. If you haven't seen it yet, I think you'll be pretty impressed by how surprisingly convincing it looks. All those years of copy-and-pasting bosses' and teachers' heads onto naked bodies has finally fulfilled itself in a meaningful way:
Now you can officially not bother seeing this film.

The governor's head looked plastic in the movie. And in this Quicktime as well.
2. Truk - June 5, 2009 11:45 AM
his head look plastic all the time
3. Pat - June 5, 2009 11:50 AM
Until I had read afterward that this wasn't actually Arnold, I was completely fooled. This is probably one of the best digital stitches I've ever seen. Certainly better than Patrick Stewart's "cameo" in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Seriously, did you see how bad be looked?
4. Jeremy - June 5, 2009 11:58 AM
@3, yeah. that was weird as shit.
5. Nightfall - June 5, 2009 11:59 AM
This was a decent action movie but a terrible Terminator movie

Agreed about Patrick Stewart, but I think they were trying to remove about 10-20 years of age lines as well.

This shit shoulda had james cameron at the helm instead of douchy McG, shoulda been rated R too. i mean come on where were the mountains of skulls getting run over by giant tank HK's and where were the hundreds of terminators mowing over doods and disembowling doods, and there were no lasers either. just sayin.
8. lazerturkey - June 5, 2009 1:02 PM
I agree w/ #7. Definitely needed lasers.
9. Nick - June 5, 2009 1:22 PM
Maybe the lasers haven't been invented yet?
As for JC, he wouldn't have directed it. He's had his fill with the franchise and moved on to other things.

I was hoping they would've shown the "time machine" SkyNet created that sent both Kyle Reese, both 101 Models, and the T1000 to the past.
Terminator 2 Judgement Day the book had an awesome description about John Connor's infiltration of SkyNet's headquarters. It was the moment he would first meet his father and send him to the past.
John Connor hanging out with Kyle Reese for the amount of time they showed in the movie creates a time paradox.
Remember Back to the Future 2?
Time Paradox.
@7 - Agreed. I wish Cameron would've been in on this one.
This movie had lots of potential, but should absolutely be the last of the series.
No More Terminators.
The End.

WHERE DA LAZERS AT?
12. disappointed - June 5, 2009 2:22 PM
I was really looking forward to this movie..
It was such a huge disappointment.
To be honest, I'm really starting to hate Christian Bale.
Just wondering, does anyone ever see a movie FOR Christian Bale? The Dark Knight was a huge success, but it was Heath Ledger. Terminator, but, well, it's effing Terminator.. I know he has other movies.. but, well, I'm not a fan. He did the "Batman" voice through out this entire movie...

I have not seen 'Salvation' yet, and I've heard that Arnold is somewhat in it. I will watch it just because of the digital head. T2 was one of the best action movies ever made. Its pry a good idea to put that tv spot out, cause it ain't doing shit at the box office.
14. Baxter Pancake - June 5, 2009 5:14 PM
@13 - I hope they put "I will watch it just because of the digital head." on the DVD cover.
15. Dr. Phil mmkay? - June 5, 2009 5:16 PM
The lazzzzers were mounted onto the harvester (big transformers-looking thing) and on the aerial HKs (note: scene on the bridge where it takes out a car). Plasma weapons were invented during the time of Salvation, it just wasn't made small enough to be hand-held. I'm sure in the next movie they'll have it.
I enjoyed it as an action flick. But yeah, as a Terminator flick, it kind of lacked soul (like T3).
16. kderuy - June 5, 2009 5:26 PM
@14 Haha.... totally!
17. Darth - June 5, 2009 5:27 PM
He looks pretty fit for a politician.
18. K lee - June 5, 2009 6:18 PM
@12
You're basing how much you hate Christian Bale on two summer blockbusters he's starred in within the past two years? He's an excellent actor. He's a little too intense (and talented) to be everyone's taste, but no one cares if you're not a fan because you don't don't like his Batman voice. You've obviously never seen any of his other movies like American Psycho, Rescue Dawn, or Empire of the Sun. Why would you post about your uninformed opinion?
Signed,
Bale's fan club president, apparently.
19. KroktheWeak - June 5, 2009 6:41 PM
'get ready for the perfect summer film'
ha I've pulled better films out of my ass than this piece of crap
and didn't the governator ask for his likeness not to be shown in the promotinig of Terminator Salvation
20. samechick - June 5, 2009 6:41 PM
Holy shit, that's pretty terrible.
21. Benito - June 5, 2009 7:11 PM
Has anyone noticed the wild look Bale has in the picture? It looks like his eyes are gonna pop out of their sockets.
22. MeLcHoR - June 5, 2009 10:08 PM
The movie was alright, Arnold's scene was good but way too short. A couple of shots then poof! the skin was blown off! :P In regards to the HKs plowing through skulls and the Skynet time machine, most likely that will be shown in the upcoming sequels. I dont like Bale's voice though, too much "Im Batman" :S
23. Pickens - June 6, 2009 4:49 AM
The female survival element is what drove the first two Terminator flicks. Sarah Connor gettin' chased then runin' crazy apeshit tryin to merc O.J. There wasn't really any of that in either of the two recent installments.
Also
1. No Bill Paxton
2. No Weird Edward Furlong yelping noise
3. The Anton Yelchin Kyle Reese thing was kind of sweet
4. At least we're pretty sure more definitive measures will be taken in the war against the machines next time they come around.
24. willwill - June 6, 2009 5:14 AM
Saw it last night. What a poo-truck! Meaning truck full of poo!
The CG Arnie was POO. It looked horrible and they gave him too much of a sneer. The T1000 doesn't sneer!
And it was such an obvious "gah, that makes it easier now" when, 5 seconds after CG Arnie shows up, all his skin gets burnt off.
I stupidly put some hope in this film being at least decent.
There were so many problems with every single aspect of it - post production, writing, acting, direction - that it just made me want to go home and watch T2 six times to get the yucky poo taste out of my eyes.
25. pluto - June 6, 2009 11:47 AM
@24
Arnold was never a T-1000. He was a T-800. And I definitely remember some little sneering in the first movie.
26. Switcher - June 6, 2009 8:34 PM
"how surprisingly convincing it looks."
W-WH-WHAAAT ?!?
Did we see the SAME movie ? Did the europeans get "work in progress" thousands copies ? Nah.
It looked terrible. Only a bit more convincing when you avoid the EYES !
Gollum, i'm afraid to say that, is still the best-looking CGI character ever. More than five (5, people) years after the last installment of Tolkien's trilogy.
27. ginkfist - June 7, 2009 12:57 PM
were there any guns'n'roses references?
28. Deamonghod - June 8, 2009 5:18 AM
HOW come noone mentioned how good Moon bloodgood looked..WHAHA ( trying to take away the focus of shait of the movie itself) it was a mweh action movei but not at all termintor..liked 3 beter Christina Locken WAs BAAADD!!
29. Lauren - June 8, 2009 7:17 AM
@ginkfist
There totally was
30. jju - June 8, 2009 12:31 PM
Is it just me or did the clip seem to say "teriminator salvation" the first time ?? I replayed it and it sounded normal though lol
Arnie looks horrible. What's weird is that he looks robotic and fake anyway in real life, but he just looks creepy as an actual digital person. You'd think they could have done it better. But why bother really
31. Mike Nait - June 8, 2009 1:40 PM
Awenold.............I'm here to bust you up.
32. Kristchin Balls - June 9, 2009 11:11 AM
You are all bandwagon hopping clowns.
This movie was FUN. It wasn't T2, but how the hell can you expect it to be. Great action, great WAR. That's what this movie was about.
Jack@sses.
33. Irish Wolf - June 9, 2009 12:22 PM
I think that this kinda looks like arnold in the original, he had a plastic-y look in it so i guess maybe they can get away with saying "oh its an early prototype so they hadnt perfected the robots". i guess it sounds better than CGI sucks
34. destroyer - June 9, 2009 6:56 PM
i cant believe the amount of bitching from you nerds, i havent even seen the movie but i never expected it to be life changing.
i think you all need to get some vagina to clean out your system.
35. B - June 10, 2009 12:10 AM
Seriously? It was a good Terminator movie. It had what the movie needed --action, john connor and effin robots. Fanboys, chill.
36. frank - June 10, 2009 7:21 PM
Wait wait wait. I'm sorry. "Roland Kickinger?" That is the ballsiest fucking name I've ever heard. He sounds like a Victorian gentleman with a huge handlebar mustache who travels the world kicking ass.
37. Bobeyo - June 12, 2009 6:29 PM
Well, this trailer WAS considerably more compelling than the one I saw all three times I watched Star Trek. I guess maybe I'll rent the DVD when it comes out. Meh.
38. Matt - June 15, 2009 11:28 AM
This movie sucked. @33...I get plenty of vag actually...and this movie still blew ass. It was hyped to hell and back cause of Christian Bale and it being the new "Terminator" film and failed MISERABLY. The acting was terrible...the story was weak as fuck (I didnt feel anything when the humans HQ submarine was destroyed...sorry spoiler) no sadness...no nothing. The special effects were shitty...if you thought the CGI on that Arnold looked bad..wait till you see some of the rest.
What I dont get is (another spoiler) the resistance says there is a list of people to be killed by the end of the week or whatever it was and Kyle Reese was first...then why the FUCK when the Terminators realized he was in that group of people they didnt just blow him the fuck away? Why "capture" him and place him in a cell? Killing him was the key to the machines winning and they had the chance but they didnt?
EXTREMELY poor story writing.
I could go on and on about why this movie sucked so much ass but I wont.
39. ray - June 16, 2009 5:48 PM
Im a huge fan of T1 and T2 think they are two of the best movies ever, and i loved salvation it is really good dont understand all the fuss,
the lasers i suppose havent been invented yet or the fact that this FUTURE IS DIFFERENT THAN THE START OF T2 BECAUSE THEY PUSHED J-DAY BACK CHANGING THE FUTURE DUHHHHHHHHHHHH
