Jun 25 2009Michael 'Turd' Bay Wants 'Transformers 2' More Event-Like, Less Lame

It should go without saying that Michael Bay is something of a turd. There's already plenty of turd evidence to support that theory, and I don't think anyone, including Bay himself, is really disputing the notion, but just in case you find yourself in a conversation where you need the additional support of a turdy email to prove that Michael Bay really is something of a turd, fellow turd TMZ has this report on a turdy email the director sent:

Michael Bay sent a scathing email to Paramount Studios before the release of "Transformers 2," complaining in effect that his famous director friends would be shocked at the way Paramount was promoting the flick.

We've obtained an email dated May 4, 2009 -- from Bay to Paramount head Brad Grey, along with a bunch of other Paramount honchos. Bay complains bitterly that Paramount's ad campaign for "Transformers 2" was tepid and ineffective.

"... I have been waiting, and waiting for the anticipation of an 'event movie' to make it into the 'public zeitgeist,'" Bay writes.

Bay calls the print campaign an "abject failure," with a "pathetic presence" in the L.A. Times. He's especially pissed about the profile of the movie on the MTV Video Awards, calling it "so lame."

But here's the best part. Bay name-drops Jerry Bruckheimer, saying Jerry always told him "a studio that does not make [the opening of a movie] an event ... will get bitten in the ass." He then adds, "Besides my good friend Steven [Spielberg], Jerry has made a lot more successful movies then (sic) all of us."

Why isn't Transformers 2 in the public zeitgeist, guys!? SO LAME. If this were a Stevesy--Spielberg, heard of him?--film, it would definitely be in the public zeitgeist. That print campaign was just so lame. Everyone knows print is the way of the future, so that really should have been the focus for this public zeitgeist event, you lame-heads.

God, what a turd.

(Thanks, Elmo.)

boooring.... first

Maybe the studio realized that he made a lame movie, no one is saying good things about this.

Their response is probably something like "Ummm yeah, we have read your complaint, re-watched the movie and realized that we dont want to flush more money down the shitter, thanks Mikey, our lawyers will contact yours about never making another movie with us again!"

Lame article...

Bay has his right to complain to the studio about how they are promoting the film. I hate it when great films go unnoticed because it was under promoted or when it has to wait 3 weeks into its release for positive buzz to generate to become successful. Horrible analysis of the email IWS and that is why you are the Turd.

The people complaining about the movie is expecting this to be an oscar movie. Helllooooo, it is about alien robots out to kill/protect us. It is an explosion film that is there for sheer loudness and entertainment.

The people that love it took it for what it was supposed to be. A big ridiculous explosion robot fighting movie. I liked the 1st one and I liked this one. It never pretends to be anything but what it is.

Reviewers are always trying to win a Pulitzer with their reviews.

Well we won't know who the turd is until we see if the film itself is actually good, or a big reel of turd.

Bay should focus on making the movie worth seeing. This thing will be crap.

Michael Bay should embrace his turdness like Sam Raimi once did. And then he'd become awesome. Right, Sam?

This movie is getting completely destroyed in the reviews. This is Bay's way of getting out of blame and laying it on the studio for their lack of a print advertising campaign.

This movie is going to suck and fail miserably (I hope), Bay should be banned from movie making forever.

Oh, and "Igetit", obviously you don't if you are defending, perhaps, one of the worst directors of all time. I can't believe you are calling this a great film, that has been far from being unnoticed, its just a crap movie getting the horrible reviews it deserves... turd

Bay makes simple, big-budget, blockbuster movies. I don't dislike him because of that because, although I do feel less intelligent after leaving the theater (Transformers 1 had the worst plot element in the history of the world: let's have a battle in the most populated place we can find and maximize human casualties!), I usually enjoy them to some degree.

Honestly, I was surprised Transformers 2 came out yesterday. Based on the ads I've been seeing, I thought it was still a few weeks away. I think Bay has the right to be a bit upset.

And P.S., I usually enjoy GW's blurbs, but this whole "turd" post was pathetic.

I did enjoy Transformers, but I only went to see it for the CGI, explosions, Megan Fox and more explosions (in my pants). if you don't expect a good plot you won't feel cheated out of your money

Somebody murder him already so I can piss on his grave. Thanks in advance.

Is it still considered 'name dropping' if you are super famous yourself and mentioning someone else who is super famous, but also one of your close friends and you have worked with that person a whole lot throughout your career?

Was he supposed to say, 'Some guy told me....' rather than mention Fuckheimer by name? Would the statement mean as much without mentioning a super successful producer as the source?

Oh well, I really don't care, actually...

shit movie = shit reviews

What is so hard to understand about that? Has nothing to do with the promotion.

I just took a dump in my front yard and I swear it was at least 24" long and 20lbs....I can promote that to the world until the dinosaurs came back but I doubt I will have a huge following to see it or praise it. Yes there will be a sick few that will worship it and there will be the gawkers that just want to say that they were there but in the end they don't speak for the populace.

I do not believe for one moment that Steven Spielberg is Bay's "Good Friend."

@14, I'm sure he must be, otherwise being Executive Producer of Transformers would question his sanity.

the animated movie is way better than bay's gay shit.

dont think i'll even give the sequel a chance. whomever said bay should be banned from movies i agree whole heartedly.

just because its sposed to be about giant robots shouldnt necesarily mean it should be completely void of a plot line and good character development.

unicron is the shit.

guys dont hate on me, just because my penis is 3 inches long I and take credit for the stunning visual effects of todays technology doesnt make me a bad person!
