Seeing Mike Myers doing an accent in facial prostheses and not being expected to politely laugh is still more jarring than any of the graphic bloodshed:

Killing Nazis: still a guiltless crime.

This trailer has got me pumped for the movie...gives lot more insight in to how the actual film is going to be than the first one - I couldn’t be more excited.

I think the so far polarizing reviews have come from the fact that its becoming 'cool' to hate on Tarantino films...every critic just wants him to be the indie film underdog, and now that he's big they all wanna tear him down. Personally, I think this has the chance to be his best film since Pulp Fiction.

I also thought it was great that they used “Comin Home” by Murder By Death in the second half of this trailer. It has this modern punk Johnny Cash vibe to it that really sets the mood for some Spaghetti-western style violence…hope its featured in the actual film, too.

Also, the extended version of this trailer can be seen at : http://displacedbrett.wordpress.com/2009/06/24/inglourious-basterds/

this movie wants to be good but will undoubtedly suck. it's not even an original, just like all his other movies. boooooo this man!

So... is this suppose to be a "dramodey" or what? I don't know if I can take Brad Pitt and all his "sammich" talk seriously.

Hitler and Nazis are not the greatest evil that have ever existed. Jews are not special, nor are they the only group that have suffered or had genocide committed against them.

It's hypocritical and childish to portray killing nazis as funny, cute, or virtuous, while simultaneously selling the cult-belief that killing anyone else is a crime against humanity.

What's especially stupid is that the word 'Hitler' is used so commonly, when he was only one of many idiots/psychopaths involved in WW2.

Wow, what a bunch of self righteous chodes to have commented before me, except number one. Can't you guys just enjoy a good hilarious movie. Some people need to smoke more pot on a daily basis. I'm going to get baked and watch Nazis die!!! And Brad Pitt could wipe the floor with any of you no talent assholes while eating a 'sammich'.

I'd really like a sammich about now.

OMG CHECK THIS SHIT!!!

I warn you, its massively addictive!!

everybody knows Tarantino's movies used to be thought provactative but we all know you have to leave your brain and common sense at the door with his newer flicks. i personally can't wait for this masterpiece becuase it's gonna be 100% pointless silly violence in a slick sammich and everyone should realise this before going to see it

Pekod:
Actually from the trailer, I'd say this movie also makes the point you're so high handedly trying to make (though you were too busy criticizing it to interpret anything, I guess). The American forces are also committing horrific atrocities with an unwavering belief in the moral superiority of their cause. It's merely the scale that separates them from the Nazis. The whole focus of the film is ON the American brutality, not the Nazi brutality.

Tarintino's film looks like it has serious potential. If you made some these points after having seen the film, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt and say that was your interpretation of it's actual content. You're talking out your ass right now. It might suck, but that's to be determined.

Moreover, the Holocaust was horrific. Just because other genocides have happened, are happening, and will happen again doesn't make ANY of those atrocities less horrific.

The fact that the Holocaust wasn't unique in it's brutality doesn't mean that it isn't worth exploring or remembering (actually, I'd argue that it makes it MORE important). The systematic annihilation and torture of an entire race, one which most of Europe was complacent about until the threat started to expand beyond Germany's boarders, is a manifestation of humanity's capacity for evil.

There a hundreds of other examples of humanity's capacity for cruelty, but WWII is one of the most clear cut in recent history and the influence it's had on the shape of today's world is more far reaching than any other.

The cult of personality surrounding Hitler is significantly more resiliant than the other 'psychopaths' of WWII, not least of all because he was one of the only ones who firmly stayed on the losing side. I'd say Stalin rank up there with Hitler, but he was with the Allied Forces. Basically, it's easy and convenient to vilify Hitler. I'll agree with you on that point in general, but I think Tarintino can still work it into the film well if he does it right.

Not all of Tarintino's films are great, but some of them are. If people actually waited to see the damn film before criticizing it, I'd take them seriously. The ones doing it at this stage are just a bunch of posers.

The only thing worse than commenting on Tarantino-related blog posts is actually trying to make a case for/against Tarantino while commenting on a Tarantino-related blog post.

While commenting.

as much as i want this to look good, it just doesn't to me
its not really that it looks bad, it just doesn't look like the kind of film i wanted it to be after reading the script

There's no excuse for the mystical superstition surrounding nazis and jews. It's brainwashing, and it's useless. I care 10x as much about an American soldier dying than I do a foreign civilian dying, and I make no apology for that.

If you're right, and Tarantino is really vilifying American soldiers in some fictional account, then what he's doing is even worse than the usual Hollywood religion, which is worshipping Jews for heating up someone's oven.

Is it uncool to simply say that Tarantino has never not rocked my socks off with a complete mastery of the various tools of cinema?

And that Pekod creeps me out?

14. It's uncool, apparently, but secretly loads of us don't think Tarantino should be the voted the next God, so don't worry - you are the resistance!

13. Funny thing is, us "foreigners" (still a caucasian white male though in case you wanted to know where you'd direct the slurs you're going to be harbouring after you finish this) care 10x more about every foreign civilian you kill than we do about any America soldier who dies.

Get off you're damn high horse. It's a fucking film. People will watch it, most of them will be disappointed, a few will love it more than they love their family and will go on about it at parties for the next decade until they have no friends left, and some will just shrug and move on with their lives. It's a film, about American's butchering Nazis. It won't be funny, or interesting, it probably won't have any particular point to it. It will just be.

So you have a choice. You either see it, or you don't. And when you've seen it, you have a choice. Bitch about it on the internet, or don't. You have the freedom to decide.

Stop being such a damn idiot. The Holocaust was a tragedy and a gross human failure. However, not long afterwards Stalin still had his gulags and his death camps, we allowed ethnic cleansing in Rwanda and Bosnia to take place even though UN and NATO forces could probably/very likely have stopped them. You wanna bitch about something, why not bitch about some Western failures for a change? Or maybe America's use of cluster bombs or napalm? How bout we talk about Veitnam if you don't wanna talk about Nazi and Jews? Lets talk about what you guys did over there . . . and how you still lost? And how when you're soldiers came home you fucked them in the ass for a war they should never have been fighting and left them to rot on the streets? Yeah, America's great.

Pekod - You're a moron waiting to be anally examined by aliens studying himan stupidity - crossed with possible inbreeding.

@15 where are you from and what is your deal? You find an idiot that says something stupid on a message board for a movie and then go crazy and start america and western world bashing. The world is not that black and white, and you'll be happier if you realize that. Please don't suicide bomb because of what was said on a iwatchstuff somment section.

People should spell nazi just like Brad Pitt says it: Nawt-sy!

Pekod:
Dude, you're a human being first and an American second. Well, not YOU specifically - guess you haven't been indoctrinated into the human race yet - but the general 'you'. Every rule has it's exception. Congrats, you're an outlier. No apology required.

This movie looks awesome.

All the people that are turning this forum into a historical debate are retarded. It's just a movie.

Ya I mean not to be a dick or anything, but isn't a movie about entertainment? I could care less about the historical value...I don't think anybody goes to see a Tarantino movie wanting it to be like a History Channel or PBS documentary. I think it's gonna be wicked fun to watch.

I'll say one thing, Tarantino sure brings the words out of you idiots.

WOW.. For a moment.. I thought that I was reading posts from the AICN Talkback.

In a little as 2 months it's coming out.As far as i can see,it could be a potential late summer blockbuster.

I read all these comments and I am reminded yet again why film is and always will be one of the most powerful mediums ever invented. Oh and proteon, you nailed it! Whereas Tarantino may not make the best films in the eyes of critics and the mainstream public, once ever 5 to 6 years he elates us all with absurd, creative, off the wall, fun, different, "I don't give a f•••" entertainment that I flock to the theater to see. Why? Because 95 percent of everything else that gets released into a mainstream movie market is a photocopy of the last thing we all just saw. Keep them coming QT.

Pitt's accent is just distracting. When are movie producers going to make him stop with the accents? Remember, this guy won a Razzie for worst film accent in Seven Years In Tibet.

Trailer looks kinda silly, but I loved the script, so I'm still stoked.

A nazi movie - the most photocopied movie topic in the history of moviemaking. This movie is crap, and so is your intellect.

Everyone get off your high horses hahahahaha this movie is gonna be a shit ton of fun, kickass fantastic in fact. Roll up a little sunshine, sit back and enjoy, don't get all political, there's no point. It's a Tarantino movie, do you really expect anything but bloodshed and a fun ride??

@17 Sorry, he just pissed me off something terrible. There's nothing particularly wrong with America - I've been over there like 5 or 6 times and it's grand, but Pekod's idea that it's worse if an American dies than someone else has that effect on me. I'm Irish by the way so I live in my little pocket of western civilisation and quite possibly am vaguely related to Obama (part of his family tree comes from Offaly, about an hour from where I live, which we are all quite proud of since he appears to be the most kick-ass man ever - did you see that video of him taking out the fly?)

I just wanted to point out to him that it's perfectly fine to think that America isn't the most important place in the universe and that in terms of genocide and cruelty the Nazis aren't the only guilty party in the history of every thing.

Good God, people! It's just a movie! Tarantino films aren't meant to be a PBS documentary. They aren't meant to be high art and a lesson for generations. They're just meant to be wild, fun...from a slightly skewed perspective. From the look of this trailer, Inglorious Bastards seems to have the same sense of fun and dark humor that was in Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill 1 & 2, , etc... And it looks like it will have the "moments" that people remember from those other films.

In short, it will probably be a movie that the critics will hate (until years later, when they will consider it great) and that the movie-going audience will love for an afternoon or evening of plain old fun.

Or it may suck.

Let's wait and see when the movie comes out. Then we can actually comment on it.

p.s. - Brad Pitt's accent in the movie is actually typical of what you hear somewhere along the way in most WWII movies. Possibly, the movies poking fun at the genre?

OMG CHECK THIS SHIT!!!

I warn you, its massively addictive!!

I came a little. And by a little I mean a lot.

hell them playing murder by death "Im commin home " is awsome!.... and oh yea kickin some nazi balls off heh

hey look, people crying about a movie. get jobs.

I do have to say (and yes, I HAVE TO say it, for I have Obssesive Compulsive Disorder, and little education) this is by far one of Tarantino's prettiest, most eye-pleasing flicks since "Kill Bill".

Go with love, people.

I would never take a QT movie seriously... Probably like his other movies; lots of pointless, violence & bullshit philosophy.. Just sit back & enjoy the ride...
