Jun 16 2009Indiana Jones, Shia LaBeouf Searching for Futher Religious/Alien Artifacts?

Ut oh, Shia, you've just caused hubbub! Speaking to an obviously-possessed BBC interviewer, LaBeouf gave the following brief-but-terrifying response when asked if we'd see him in another Indiana Jones movie:

"Steven just said that he cracked a story on it before I left, and, uh, I think they're gearin' that up."

I can appreciate the spirit of being launched out of a nuclear test site and climbing right back into that fridge to try again, but this is not a good idea, Steven Spielberg. You (along with Oprah) are the most powerful person in media (source: I think I read that in a magazine once); can you not use that power for good? Just finish Tintin, throw Liam Neeson in a top hat and do the Lincoln thing you've been talking about for a decade, and put this Indiana Jones thing to bed. Thank you.

I'm not sure I believe the story anyway. LaBeouf using the phrase "cracked a story" makes me think maybe Spielberg's quote was mistranslated when converted from English to 1920s Reporter Speak.

There were comments from Lucas when the last pile of crap was released stating that he was interesting in continuing the Jones saga with Shia.

I guess it wasn't a baseless threat :(

I liked "Crystal Skull" ... but I'm biased because I work in New Haven where it was filmed.

@2 I invite you to nutkick yourself...

crystal wasnt as bad as temple...

Temple doesn't have aliens.

or nuclear blast proof refrigerators, or shia labeoufs awkward facial hair, or horrendous amounts of CGI. In a perverse way I actually prefer the obvious water being poured down a little model tunnel approach.

But then again 20 years from now I'll think our crappy CGI is actually kind of cute.

only if shia talks like the fonz. for the rest of the movies. eeeeey!

Shai makes me rage with his stupid name and stupid hair! Plus, he only seems to have one bewildered expression.

Crystal Skull was great by the standards of the Indiana Jones franchise. It was pulp-fantasy-adventure-come-to-life. I really don't see how anyone can hate it without despising the entire series of films. As far as writing, style, cinematography, it is right there with the other films.

I actually enjoyed Crystal Skull. It obviously wasn't on par with the rest of the films, but it was still decent. The whole "nuke the fridge" thing is fucking stupid. You know how many ridiculous and impossible things he did in the other movies? He hid on top of a submarine as it submerged in the first one, jumped out of an airplane in an inflatable raft and rode it down a mountain in the second one, and drove through a tunnel alongside an airplane with no wings in the third one.

I think a fifth movie could be made that'd be almost on par with the originals if they changed a few things like...

1) Never, ever even think about putting cute, CGI animals into the movie.
2) Not convince a good actress like Cate Blanchett to give a terrible, ridiculous performance.
3) Stay away from aliens. They were a little weird, and Steven's obsession with them creeps me out.

and finally

4) Get rid of Shia LaBeouf. Mutt was a terrible character.

The problem w/ Crystal Skull was how Indiana had to stop every 5 minutes and go into a long-winded explanation of exactly what was going on for the audience. And even then the movie still didn't make sense.

Shia LaDouche helped ruin the Transformers, he should help put the rest of the Indy series down the toilet too.

I expect them to do more with these alien stuff seen in The Crystal Skull.Looking forward!

Maybe they reveal more about the Kindom of the Crystal Skull.

temple of doom is a masterpiece compared to kingdom of crystal skulls.

I will punch that pansy in the throat if that happens.
