Jun 3 2009'Heathers 2' Moving Forward with Help from Spirit Guide J.D.
Wouldn't you love to see how Veronic Sawyer, Winona Ryder's character from Heathers, would use her rising popularity to navigate the cliques of adulthood with the help of Christian Slater's ghostly manifestation? No? Welp:
Winona Ryder said in an interview appearing in the July issue of Empire that a sequel to the 1988 cult film is in the works. "I swear to God," she said. "But for some reason Dan [Waters, writer] and Michael [Lehmann, director] don't want to talk about it." Maybe you shouldn't be talking about it then, lady! Oh, but she went on. "There is a story, and Christian [Slater] has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character."
I can't begin to imagine how this would work. There's a reason there isn't a Breakfast Club sequel where the characters find themselves spontaneously reunited in an ear, nose & throat doctor's waiting room (yet). And there's a reason every time you fly home to visit your parents, you see that one friend who's telling you how he's fixing up this really sweet Ford Probe. Some things were just never meant to leave high school.
(Thanks, Crystal.)
(Side-note: having some technical issues today. Internet is bloopers!)

How about a sequel to Ferris Bueller where Ferris Bueller fakes sick to get off work? That's equally twice as plausible and more interesting than this. Hell, if they really wanted to, they could find some way to kill off a character and use them as a mentor ghost.

Ok this movie was great growing up but I think its been too long to make a sequel. I dont think anyone even remembers Christian Slater ....

That is a bad idea. Weren't they going to do a Real Genius 2? There are tons of 80s movies that need a sequel worse than Heathers. Hell, let's see The Goonies back together as adults fighting a corporate takeover of Mouth's independent adult video store or something!

Certain movies were awesome because they came out at the right time, and they just filled that niche in the subculture back then perfectly! When they try to make sequels decades later sometimes it just seems forced (I'm looking at you Lost Boys: The Tribe)! Stop trying to relive the glory of the 80's & early 90' just make a movie that is somewhat plausible for a grown women Winona Ryder's age.
Oh btw it would also be pretty cool if they could have the female characters "NOT" obsessing over getting married and having a baby, hating all men, all men being treated like emasculate mouth breathing morons, or any over the top bitchy superhumanly flamboyant gay guy saying the words "guuurlfriend". Just saying... please no more.

::sigh:: This has "bad idea" written all over it. I was never enthusiastic about the original film — never saw what the big deal was about this "cult classic."

Maybe he is her mentor in the world of shoplifters.
