Jun 24 2009'District 9' Level 5 Alert: Do Not Apprehend Insanely Frightening Alien Freaks

district-9-warning.jpg

New online marketing from the alien apartheid film District 9, this one in the form of a video clearly aimed at people who don't dial 911, warning not to approach any of the terrifying, agile, bug-like aliens that have escaped from the titular sector.

I swear the voice-over guy giving us this "level 5 alert" is the same guy that delivers a similar warning during commercials alerting local news viewers to "emergency factory closeout sales in your area":

Seriously, does anyone know the commercial I'm talking about? I'm sure it's him. I recognize that voice nearly as accurately as I do Empire Today flooring guy's creepily unnatural narration.

honk honk blaurg blaurg

I enjoy it when movies do online advertisements. They usually succeed in peaking my interest for movies. This one already looks pretty good so I can't wait to see it.

This movie looks fantastic. Also, that's not the closeout sale narrator where I live.

"Eight hundred, five eight eight, two three hundred, Empire....today!"

Got dam I love that jingle.

My respect for this movie has just dashed out the window when I saw that family at the end. This is a poor poor ad.

I think this is the voice of the guy in the in between news updates in "Starship Troopers." Would you like to know more?

I thought the same thing Nick.

I will rent this only.

Alien bitch slap

The anouncer sounds like the guy who did the comercials to " help your planet, kill the bugs, become a citizen.

My opinions are different from your opinions.

Also, I voted for a different person than you did.

@6 I don't think I ever had any respect for this movie. Thinly veiled social commentary be damned, it just looks silly.

@7 & 11 I was totally thinking the same thing.

It's the guy who does "the Clone Wars" narration!!!
:p

Wowowowo, Is that penis on that alien in the photo. WTF!?

I've the impression that they want to make this movie as realistic as possible.Like it's really happening.

I think youre thinking of the "Hello, this is Life Alert" commercials.

And yeah, it does sound A LOT like him.

I was stoked until the "keeping humans safe by keeping nonhumans separate" line. With satire that obvious, this movie can no longer work as the subtle allegory I was hoping for. Oh well, still looks pretty boss.

I believe you mean the home foreclosure, and bank repossession commercial. But I don't have a youtube addy for it.

You can watch this free online at http://uncensoring.com all you need to do is fill out one of the short surveys that are up. It looks like one of those scam sites at first but it's worth it.
