Jun 26 2009'Amelia' Trailer: Old Guys, Please Refrain From Shouting "I Know How It Ends!" and Chuckling
Coming soon to lists of things that will probably win Oscars, Hilary Swank and Richard Gere in the melodramatic story of the world's greatest ladypilot: Amelia. As you can see in the above screenshot, the biopic seems to support my controversial theory that Earhart's disappearance was the result of arbitrarily climbing out of her plane, standing on the wings, and waving until she fell off. I knew it:

How do you promote this as inspirational when its one of the most epic fails in history. At best she crashed and died, at worst she was a spy and a turn coat (conspiracy theory’s abound about her and the Germans, however unlikely do exist).

dude, the conspiracy theories say she was an american spy. what on earth would the germans need a spy in the south pacific for?

Oh crud, they're in it? Now I can't go see it.
When did Amelia Earhart do wing-walking?! And actually, she might have been the world's dumbest lady pilot, for the safety aspects that she allegedly refused to learn and carry out for her last flight. Even her female pilot peers thought that she took some dumb risks in her flying. Ah well, her story does deserve a major movie (if it's accurate) other than the silly part she got in "Night At The Museum 2". :-p

Come on now, it is a great story! She was a first, yes she failed, but that is part of why it is a great story. We don't know why for sure, we don't know what happened...we don't know and that is the point. A good mystery captures the human mind to a level that many other types of stories cannot. Appreciate the entertainment value, or don't see it at all. I don't believe in the world ending in 2012, but we have a movie about that too. It is entertainment. And yes, my name really in Amelia:)

I agree she was a hero for being the first woman and being brave and all that... However, couldn't they get an actress more inspiring than Hilary Swank to play such an inspiring woman? Ms. Swank has gotten away with two Oscars in the two actually watchable films on her resume. Why not go for someone with a better track record who can actually act?

I agree, AE's story is fascinating and it is too bad that they couldn't find someone better in this current bunch of young actresses to play her. Believe it or not, Diane Keaton played her fairly well in "Amelia Earhart: The Final Flight" (TV movie only on VHS). Yes, her demise is unknown, but her technical problems and drawbacks were known. The DK movie is very honest about that, but still shows her strengths and courage overall.

Forgive the trespass.
One of favorite books on the subject is " I Was Amelia Earhart" by Jane Mendelsohn.
This is the movie they should have made.
