May 11 2009'Princess and the Frog' is So Groundbreaking
Disney's The Princess and the Frog brings forth two important landmarks for the studio: the return of theatrically-released 2-D animation and the first time ever a Disney Princess will fight the above horrific fusion of Waluigi and Bubbles from The Wire, which is going to mean a lot to all those little, under-represented girls who have both played Mario sports titles and watched the critically-acclaimed HBO series. This is obviously the film's poster; here's the trailer:
A princess and a prince falling in love, some upright animals dancing in a row... that's your classic Disney.

@ 1+2
I was going to say the croc is a mix of the two. Disney seems to have limits in their imagination of crocodile designs.

New name= Monkey Princess with a crown make of 40 oz caps and chicken bones.
7. Elmo - May 11, 2009 5:44 PM
well, the croc's voiced by Emeril Lagasse, which makes him fat and awesome.
and the snake looks like a bug-eyed version of Kaa from the Jungle Book..
aand... wth is with the creepy skeleton voo doo lady?
8. Elmo - May 11, 2009 5:49 PM
wait no, that's not Emeril.. I saw a morning show he was at and there was a cartoon of an alligator set up behind him... I guess this is the movie?

Disney Indulges in Stereotypical Voice Actors.

So okay. First Disney movie with a black princess in it.. and they decided to not actually show a black princess for the bulk of the film, instead opting to turn her into a frog so you wouldn't have to see her black face?
I'm a little confused.

How about making an animated film with a female protagonist who isn't a princess at all? GROUNDBREAKING!
12. DADA - May 11, 2009 9:56 PM
@4, You watch Nostalgia critic webisodes too?
This movie looks so good, and I hope it brings about a constant throwback to the classics.
13. DADA - May 11, 2009 9:59 PM
As a child I always thought Jasmine was black. Disney just made her look that way.
14. questioning - May 12, 2009 12:30 AM
Does anyone else find this trailer extremely racist?
15. Disney Princess - May 12, 2009 12:58 AM
Don't you dare make fun of Disney! They stand for all that is good and right with the world. They are perfection and so is everything they do.

no one has commented on the waluigi/bubbles comment, so i will.. brilliant. (seriously, look at the bubbles picture right beside the guy on the poster)

Considering some of the shit Disney's pulled (Dumbo, the premiere of Song of the South) over the years, it wouldn't surprise me.
19. gabdar - May 12, 2009 8:31 AM
does anybody else think that disney tries to pull the "look how many classics we've already produced! WATCH THIS ONE TOO" far too much?
20. Vtx - May 12, 2009 9:08 AM
@ 11: Hey, Mulan wasn't a princess... I guess Asian people aren't meant to be royalty in Disney movies.
21. che-che - May 12, 2009 10:49 AM
i wonder if the WB frog will make a cameo!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I didn't find this trailer egregiously racist. It looks like it has an oversized helping of cringe-worthy humor, but I'm kind of excited!

The princess turns into a frog. They have been creative this time.

25. Well Thats Nice - May 12, 2009 6:24 PM
i had felt that Disney had been lacking in the racism for awhile...good to see its back.
26. Jayfournines - May 14, 2009 12:29 PM
It's not racist at all, you people keep looking for shit where there isn't any; if this had been Cinderella turning into a frog no one would have said anything...so stop trying to find racism where there is none
27. Hatimus_Prime - May 15, 2009 4:29 PM
they are just Over exaggerated characterizations of a typical new Orleans resident, Evvvvvery cartoon does this...the one thing that surprises me is disney chose this story over others like Anansi for instance..... but whatever the case i'm stoked to see it (2d animation woo hoo)
28. Qui Preyer - May 22, 2009 6:27 PM
