May 28 2009New 'The Last Airbender' Photo: Nice Coat, Slumdog
Thanks to Flex at MovieGod for passing along this new photo of Dev Patel in The Last Airbender. Strange how quickly a promising young actor can go from being in the Best Picture of the Year to playing some kind of samurai street pimp of the Himalayas in an M. Night Shyamalan film based on a NickToon.

Needs more burn scar on his left eye. It should totally be noticeable from that distance and it's not. And the hair style is all wrong. but he'll do the character justice I think.

No evil-looking enough... is that pink spot supposed to be the scar on his face or a birthmark?

18. catch22 - May 28, 2009 4:27 PM
im guessing they are gonna do like the TWOFACE in dark knight where the wound is CGI (masterfully done IMHO)
otherwise a prince zuko witohut a scar would simply be careless on the directors part considering he had "watched the whole series" with his kids
they shoulda just had dante basco dust off his rufio costume from hook and jsut go in considering hes the voice
19. dubba - May 28, 2009 4:29 PM
he also needs the "cauliflour ear"

How to make an Indian look lily-white:
1. Put him in the fucking snow
2. Give him a big ol' Russian coat
3. Execute the whitest possible haircut.

They have ignored concerns by fans to make it as authentic as possible. Lord of the Rings was based upon European Myths and Last Airbender is based upon Asian Pacific Myths.
This is an Asian based mythology and all the main characters are identified as:
Aang: based on Shaolin and Tibetan Monks.
Katara and Sokka: Inuit/Yupik society.
Zuko : Imperial Chinese/Japanese Mythos.
Paramount Studios decided to make it “Diverse” and cast all main leads with White Caucasian Actors. The extras were cast with Asians.
They have made Dev Patel look like a Thuggee Cultist from Temple of Doom.
Asian American groups such as MANAA and East West Players have now joined with the protests over the White washing and what we have now termed, Racebending, of the film.
