May 20 2009'Ghostbusters 3' Has Sigourney Weaver, Maybe Some Babes
Still no word on which historical landmark will come to life with the aid of ectoplasm and Jackie Wilson, but there is some news on the Ghostbusters 3 front. Dan Aykroyd talked to the LA Times Hero Complex about the project's development, and had these updates:
- Sigourney Weaver has finally signed on, joining Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and longtime holdout Bill Murray.
- Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, however, is most likely not in; Aykroyd hopes Ramis, who directed Groundhog Day and the upcoming Year One, might take the helm.
- Aykroyd is looking forward to Ghostbusters 3 serving as a "passing-of-the-torch" film, introducing a five-member next generation team, specifically mentioning Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku. In other word, Aykroyd thinks ghosts should be busted by hot babes and/or is under the misguided impression that calling Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku "amazing" might get him laid with them.
- The film "could be in production by winter."
Questions still unanswered:
- Will Rick Moranis's spastic Louis Tully return? Annie Potts?
- Will the next generation of Ghostbusters have to face the dickless Walter Peck?
- Will there ever be a better Ghostbusters soundtrack song than Bobby Brown's "On Our Own"?
- How would destroying the Vigo the Carpathian painting at the end of Ghosbusters 2 possibly result in a new, Renaissance-style painting of the Ghostbusters team in period garb? I'll suspend my disbelief for the walking Statue of Liberty, but that's just nuts.
Topping "On Our Own" is clearly impossible, but I'd really love some answers to the rest of my questions.

They asked Rick Moranis to recap his voice in the Ghostbuster's video game and he declined, basically, because he has enough money (he's Jewish).
I have serious doubts as to if he'd come out of retirement for this movie either.

Moranis hasn't done any work since his wife's death IIRC. Hence retirement. And, I know, it's wacko, but I don't think he'll want to come out of it for Ghost busters.
I thought Annie Potts was lending her voice to the vidya game, so no reason she wouldn't be in the 3rd flick, I think. Also as Milano is in the game, its cool to see her in the next movie. Continuity ftw.

Honestly... Ghostbusters is one of the only movies that I really could care less about some hot ladies being in it. I mean they never had any in the past films aside from Annie Potts being nerdy hot. But even without hot ladies. They were great movies. Besides... so far the 2 ladies mentioned I really... really could care less about. I mean really? Alyssa Millano and Eliza Dushku. Dollhouse sucks, Charmed Sucked, Who's the boss sucked, Buffy was alright, and Poison Ivy 2 and Embrace of the vampire are alright only because Millano shows her boobs. And that... short lived Fox show other than Dollhouse that Dushku was in. Sucked. Why don't they at least get some people that are a little less mediocre? and if they cant. Just skip it em.

The saying is that one COULDN'T CARE LESS. Could care less means that you care enough about something that there is the potential for you to care less about it. Could NOT care less means that you care the absolute least amount for something already, and are incapable of caring any less about it.

I'm excited about a new Ghostbusters only if there's a real story to be told. If so, then the right characters will fall into place. Ofcourse, casting is everything after the writing. I tried thinking about who I would cast as the new Ghostbusters and I kept going back and forth. But then I saw X-Men origins and realized it would be awesome if we had Ryan Reynolds as a lead. He's got natural comedic qualities, I immediately realized he should be one of the Ghostbusters - along with Steve Carrel and Paul Rudd. Just throwing that out there.

@7 i wouldnt have related reynolds to wolverine, i would have gone the van wilder route. that movie didnt suck as hard as wolverine.
do you think, oscar the baby, from the 2nd movie, will be part of the new ghostbusters. or will he be the asshole kid that hates veitman, and then in the end veitman rescues him and they fall in love.
