May 1 2009'District 9' is Clearly an Alien District of Some Nature

district-9-teaser.jpg

Very little is known about Neill Blomkamp's upcoming sci-fi film, District 9, but a teaser has just been released that makes it seem like it's a mixture of the extra-terrestrial-coexistence film/TV drama Alien Nation, a little Independence Day, and apartheid, but also likely better than all of those things. Particularly apartheid.

Here:

(Thanks, Judy and Ryan.)

The alien being blurred out and so obviously, exaggeratedly bug-like just makes me see a MadTV "Cops" parody called "Exterminators."

Did you eh... get that thing I sentcha?

The 2009 summer movie line-up isn't impressing me.

your mom impresses me

You impress way too easily

your dad impresses me. I bet he's a hard working man with good morals.

I'm not entirely fluent in alien, but I'm pretty sure that at 1:13 when the alien is asked where are you from? the alien replies with a fairly obvious: fuck you.

or maybe the film, will just be an extended version of the short film.
found here.

and its on you tube aswell.

so i think i know alot about the film.

so where the hell are they?? The people sound like they're from Africa, India and England.
AND why the hell did they blurr the alien out? Were they giving him one of those 20-20 interviews and they wanted to protect his identity?

They are in South Africa. Lots of British influence there, as well as a large Indian community. This isn't some made up world that has multiethnicity out of Hollywood laziness, its legitimately like that there. Now throw some cockroach aliens into mix, shake and EMOTIONAL SHIT GONNA E-X-P-L-O-D-E.

Also #8 - I bet they blurred its face out CUZ IT LOOKS LIKE A GIANT VAGINA. I'd censor that shit.

Looks like a feature length version of his Alive in Joberg short film. I'm really looking forward to it.

Little more info:

I live in Cape Town. There's an area here called District 6, famous because under apartheid they bulldozed the whole damned place just because the people living there had the wrong skin colour.

Over the last couple of years, on of the major issues South Africa has been facing is refugees coming down from the rest of Africa. They're the victims of intense xenophobia here, with a lot of violence against them, and they've been forced into squatter camps.

The issue has been reported widely in the South African media. This trailer looks suspiciously like they've taken the vast quantity of documentary footage about the refugees, and added a spaceship.

kewl.
.

I can't wait until this comes out. I've been following the viral since the beginning. ^^

Looks awesome, but they better call the Orkin dudes quick!

Thanks, Hal. I can tell you know a lot more then I do.
About eeevvveerythiiing!

For sure we're going to watch this movie.Pretty fast loading quality HD clip as well.

It looks pretty groovy, but why do movie trailers recycle movie music so much? The opening music was from Solaris (some of the coolest music ever composed for a movie). Nothing's as overused as the climax music from Aliens, which has been used in more movie trailers than I can count!

Movie looks pretty cool... i would say watchable

iTunes failed http://www.epiclosers.com/load/8-1-0-296

Is it just me or does this movie sound alot like the plot from the book Childhood's End?

this looks so bad ass!

it's gone now

What was gone, can be found again...
