Apr 24 2009Predator Getting Remade, Pluralized
At a news conference yesterday, Robert Rodriguez confirmed rumors he's going to relaunch the Predator series, but judging by the film's new title, sounds like there's going to be a slight change:
Director Robert Rodriguez has taken on the 20th Century Fox PREDATOR franchise and creating a newly rebooted "PREDATORS."We've heard the rumblings that this was coming via B-D, but now it's been confirmed. IESB has also confirmed it will be Rodriguez' own take on the original concept and he is in fact not only producing the reboot, he's also directing it.
Rodriguez talked to the audience of press members and revealed his upcoming film slate.
"I'm going to be able to shoot my upcoming Machete here, a sci-fi action film called Nervewrackers, a re-boot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons."
Wait a minute--did he just say Predators? As in more than one Predator!? What a sly change. Great work, Double R. Get to work on that after you finish all the other movies you probably aren't ever going to start. And make sure Rose McGowan plays the majority of the Predators.
UPDATE: Oh, and it will be out July 7 next year.

Boy, Fox had better check with The Asylum before they go ahead with this. The Asylum already has Terminators and Universal Soldiers!

That's so clever! Its just like the sequel to Alien, which shocked the world with the genius title Aliens. Oh, and O-M-G...the predators fought the aliens! No fucking way! My god, Rodriguez is almost as talented as his butt buddy Quinny.

Wasn't there already more than on Predator in the second movie?

Did he actually call Sin City 2 a smaller movie?

I think that was a subtle joke, because Sin City 2 and tThe Jetsons are like, high profile. It's science.

I thought that Alien vs. Predator 2 was awesome and 100 times better than the first one. I don't know why everyone hated it.

I'm also rebooting the C.H.U.D. franchise with C.H.U.D.S., and Rodriguez stole the idea that I stole first. FRIST!!

NOT HAPPY. First: the make up in the first predator was perfect and none of the sequels seemed to recapture that. They just made the actors look like bobble heads.
Second: the idea of multiple predators takes away the original concept that one ONE Friggin bad-ass Alien wiped out two Special forces squads (Jim Hopper 'He didn't disappear! He was SKINNED ALIVE!')
Third: The overuse of tag lines "You're one ugly M-Fer" and the piss poor acting in the series of late makes me worry that the sequel will be boring and at times campy. NO FRIGGIN CGI EITHER! I Liked the cleaness of the First one and each sequal I was hoping for a repeat of that . I hoped Requiem would have redeemed it but sadly it fell short.
Want to relaunch the Predator Series? Set the time to the year 2147 and have the Colonial Marines run into one. "GAME OVER, Man!"

Rob might turn Predators into a CGI laughapalooza like the Spy Kids trilogy. Sin City was bad ass. He should have done "The Spirit". Frank really fudged the pooch on that venture. That movie, though almost Sin City like was like watching a Cartoon Network show on acid.
I have nothing bad to say about Rob, he's a native Texan. So we all Texans got to stick together. Don't Mess With Texas you Motherfunkywangers.
Predators Vs. Aliens was really well shot and give the franchise an face lift. I am really eager to see Rob's spin on it.
Peace out my niggas!

WHAT ABOUT PREDATOR VS EL MARIACHI!!!!!!!!!?

"Predators", taking a page from the "Aliens" playbook perhaps? Although I guess it does open the way for an AvP reboot...Aliens Versus Predators.

The series just kept dropping off severely after the original. I like Robert's style but I hope (even though I'm gun shy after the recent dismal Predator releases) that a reboot works - I just pray its not a remake. Predator is just a solid movie and a movie like that should have reached untouchable status by now, but it seems Hollywood doesn't hold much sacred anymore...
