Apr 7 2009Man Shoots Himself Watching 'Watchmen'
It goes without saying that there's nothing funny about someone shooting themselves. But that said, when such a tragic action is committed during the viewing of a three-hour film, it could be interpreted as the most scathing review possible:
A man shot himself to death in a Eugene movie theater just after midnight Monday morning.Police say about 10 patrons were in an auditorium at Regal Cinemas watching the movie “Watchmen.” About midway through the film some of the moviegoers told the manager they heard a “popping” noise like a gunshot. A 24-year-old man was found in the rear of the auditorium with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police say the man shot himself and was dead when they arrived.
The patron closest to the man was sitting two rows away.
(Thanks, Soop.)
Well, now we know the cut-off distance for not responding to a nearby gunshot: two theater rows.

Holy crap... did they ID the body as Alan Moore or something?
the movie was pretty good.... for a movie.
now I'm sure the comic book freaks (i.e. people who masturbate to the graphic novel and have to buy a fresh copy every 4 days because the other one is too sticky) might not have liked it as much
but who cares about them??

You're all looking at it wrong; he didn't shoot himself because he hated the movie but because it met and possibly exceeded his expectations, thus allowing him to die happy.
You bunch of pessimists, you.

i thought that at first, rockosolido, but then why would he have shot himself halfway through? Unless knowing they changed the ending from the book, he wanted to die before hand.

Hope it is not Alan Moore incognito.
"Aaaaah, they screwed-up my chef-d'oeuvre, aaaahhhh" - BANG.
Nothing funny about this - it will just add to the bad publicity.
"10 patrons" ?! OMG, this flick bombed here (and all around the world i'm afraid).

Your site has one of the wildest designs on the internet … I have no problem promoting that work of art!! As for Bur banked, he publishes an article once a month or so … but it’s usually genius when he does.
