Apr 16 2009'Armored' Trailer: Not a Straight-to-Video 'Iron Man' Rip-Off
The Queen Latifah/Diane Keaton/Katie Holmes comedy Mad Money and Oceans 11 spent twenty minutes under the bleachers, and now we have this:
You can practically see the producer's Sharpie crossing out the word "car" on the screenplay's cover. "Punchier, see? Now to get some star power. What's Skeet Ulrich's number again?"

How is that not straight to video is beyond me....

The Reservoir Dogs comparison is so obvious it almost goes without saying. A bunch of guys hiding out in a warehouse post-heist with an injured cop? Is there an unwritten rule in Hollywood that you're allowed to blatantly rip-off other films so long as you do a really poor job of it?

What amazes me is how they can afford to keep making crap like this given the economic climate.

This is the only crap being made in this economic climate. Seriously, studios aren't taking any 'risks' on films with experimental elements, going more for the popcorn drivel. This film will make them some money, with less of a tail than if it was more art house.

In this economic environment (BUZZ WORD!) this is going to make so much money its sickening. I use FAST AND FURIOUS' opening weekend as the given in the proof of this mathematical equation.

Yet another trailer that gives away the entire movie. I feel like I've seen it already, so now i can confidently advise you all not to go see it yourselves. You're welcome.

why is jean reno in this? looks like a waste of talent to me. i wonder if they will make the armored trucks drift around tight corners.

Wow, it's the hottest cast of 1996.

When the firecracker went off, I thought. "Oh, it's a comedy! A spoof of heist movies! That's why it seems so cliched and overacted." But then it kept going.

Why don't Hollywood come on down to South Africa and see how organised criminals take out cash in transit armoured vans. We get a hit on vans about once a month, more frequent when it comes to Christmas season. None of that fancy-pants "cut the fuel lines crap" and stick bombs on the window.
Hit it with something big, it rolls. 12 guys with Ak-47's and some basic explosives blow the door off, they shoot everyone inside, they take everything, they drive away. Oh yeah - if you're thinking about being a brave witness/hero, they randomly shoot into passing cars to keep people's heads down and to cause general chaos.
Generally, one of the van drivers/guards are in on it, which makes it easier too.

I agree with Bob (South Africa). Mexico is not that far from your once-a-month hit rate.
Though the movie looks like a fun summer excuse to go to the theater, it looks much too...staged?
Bank heists and armored car robberies are way more brutal, planned and to the point. Go in/fire at someone/get out.
There's no drama.
Thats is why even though it looks cool, it looks fake.

#4 is right. People love these type of movies when the economy is sour. I know i do. I love shitty movies with simple American plots.
