You may have been content to let the memory of 2005's box office flop Sahara fade (you've probably even forgotten Dwight Schrute was in it), but not everyone can so easily erase the Matthew McConaughey adventure from their mind. Namely, our judicial system: Clive Cussler, author of the bestselling novel of the same name, has been in a legal battle with Paramount since '04, when he claimed they breached contract by not giving him final script approval. Cussler lost that battle in '07 at the cost of $5 million, and now Variety reports he's lost the counter-suit, which will cost him another $13.9 million to compensate Paramount for their legal fees unless he wins his appeal
So why is this relevant to you? Because it means we're definitely not going to have to bear another Dirk Pitt adventure starring Matthew McConaughey! We've all won today. Besides Clive Cussler.

Now what, I ask, was wrong with 'Sahara'? It was like a Nick Cage movie without Nick Cage, so it was awsome

"Sahara" wasn't as bad as most people make it out to be - certainly better than "Raise the Titanic" was 20 years earlier.
I love Cussler's books, but they don't really seem to translate well to the screen. Which is too bad, becuase "Cyclops" would've made a heck of a film!

They put so many hot and sensitive news about themselves on that site. I like to know them on that site. But I do not know to talk about what they write. That's secret for the members on that site. I keep seeing negative comments about Sahara. I'm with Bill, I really enjoyed the movie. Good action romp and I'm gutted they started twanging each others knicker elastic which is going to stop us seeing Dirk in action again.
That's right folks, romp and twanging can be used together and it still be clean fun.
