For no great reason I really want a spoiler to this movie.

i bet it is a movie made after that old scary story about the girl with the ribbon around her neck, and when she takes the ribbon off her head falls off.

This movie is probably going to be really stupid, but the poster is really effective. It's creepy, and yet you can't quite put your finger on it, so you have to look again. I think this picture falls squarely in the "uncanny valley."

My guesses:

- she has a third foot
- she's perfectly symetrical
- her eye(s) were stolen and replaced with the eye(s) of a demented serial killer.
- she's experiencing the menopause

I'll put your finger on it. It's a creepy picture bcs they took a half her face, just the slightest bit off angle and mirrored it to make the full face. Try it with your own camera, you get freaky results.

Her head is on backwards - don't these dresses zip in the back? Might explain the weird choker - like somebody said - it's holding her head on BUT BACKWARDS!

Oh the fun that ensues when they explain this mean feat and how the poor kid eats soup like that!

After watching the trailer I suspect that her creepy little secret is that she isn't a child. She's got one of those Webster/GaryColemen kidney diseases which cause her remain a prepubescent little girl....FOREVERmoohoohaha. Oh, and also she's a homicidal maniac.

No, you don't just get your birth certificate. I gave up a child for adoption and if I want to remain anonymous, you don't get to breach that and disregard my wishes. If you have a problem with being adopted, take it up with a therapist.

you see, sometimes when someone gives someone up for adoption, such as in K's case, it's because they are selfish and believe that their feelings are the only ones that matter. In which case you're better off not looking them up.

Alright, so I really like the idea of the 30-33 year old prostitute, very OMG moment for people who aren't reading the spoilers =P (although I fully do not intend to see this movie). But the prostitute thing doesn't explain why she wants to kill her siblings! I mean yes, there's the mental asylum thing going on, but why? Just cuz she was screwed up from being a prostitute? I admit I will probably have to see the movie to find out, unless it's the typical horror film where they leave loose ends untied for your personal frustration.

Perhaps she was just always crazy to begin with? That could be why she became a prostitute to begin with, or perhaps she originally was raped by a pedophile before she became a prostitute and the trauma caused her to have a breakdown or become a little crazy which in turn caused her to turn to drugs to ease her pain, so she became a hooker to pay for her habit? Than because her clientele was all pedophiles, it was like she had to relive the experience over and over again? Than she finally went over the edge and went to a mental institution? Thats my guess or prediction, a bit complex but plausible, I guess we just have to wait and see...

Maybe she's gone crazy because no one at the insane asylum believes she's 33. They all think she's a child and thinks she's crazy for saying she's 33. And that in turn makes her go crazy and want to kill everyone.

Too bad i cant find the website or remember what her secret was, but it had something to do with saving the world from these monster things that were the actual cause of the violence. Turned out she wasnt actually evil. they tossed her in the ocean at the end and monsters came to wreck her town. I think she came back and saved them, but not really sure.

I went to the premiere and, although there is a GIANT unsuspecting twist, it is not that one. Haha I still can't believe you all believed that! I want to meet the kid who made that up, he deserves to have his own reality show.

Now, if you want to know what the real spoiler is I'll tell you:

(Remember: This first part is all told in flashback at the end of the movie so we don't actually see this happen in real time)

Esther is a little girl who was taken away by social services after she witnesses her mother murder her father in a really gruesome way. She is put in foster care for a while until she is caught trying to re-enact the murder scene with a little girl in her foster home. She is then put into an asylum (the spoiler about the ribbons around her neck and wrists covering scars from restraints is true). So, here's the good part: One night she escapes from the asylum and knocks on a woman's door saying her father dropped her at the edge of the nearby river and left. The woman lets her stay the night and promises to take her to the orphanage the next morning. The next day they drive to the orphanage where the woman and the orphanage director speak (We don't hear this conversation). Then, the family comes and decides to adopt her after their first choice mysteriously is no longer up for adoption (we later find out she killed him). So, Esther basically wreaks havoc on the mother because her mother killed her father. She and her father were very close so she holds a soft spot for John and wants him all to herself.

And that's the big secret! Still juicy, but not as ridiculous as you all thought. Hope I cleared up some stuff!

I love how it seems to be that the bio-parent of an adopted child is the only one whose feelings are taken into consideration. Who cares if someone's wife feels guilty, she should feel guilty and she should grow a pair and face that child if it comes to it. I'm not adopted, but my sister is and I watch how sad she gets because she wants to know where she came from and there is no way to help her. Shame on anyone who denies those children the right to know who they are...

Nicolee, sorry, but I disagree wtih you 100%. My mother's family was torn apart after her dad's death when his out-of-wedlock child (of which none of the family knew about but him) came forward and wanted to start a relationship with the other "sisters." My grandfather was contacted many times and each time said he did not want this child in his life. Sometimes, you go looking and that's the sad truth - the child was given up because they weren't wanted. Why visit heartache on a family you weren't wanted by?

It would be interesting to know if any of you who are condemning her have ever been raped or had to give up a child for adoption. If you don't, then you need to stop making fools of yourself.

Ok, here's my 2 theories.

1. The mother is the one with a secret. She miscarries or loses her recent baby and feels guilty about that because, what nobody knows is that ...she gave up her first baby for adoption (in secret), she was too young, blah blah. So now, she's adamant on adopting, maybe possibly trying to unbind her Karma because she feels like she lost her new baby b/c of what she did in the past, letting this other child go. Ok, later a very special child that deserves to be adopted by this family peeks their interest. So they adopt her. Later...come to find out, this is the biological child of the mother that just adopted her and.....her necklace is covering her scars because during her fostering experiences, she was abused and eventually murdered and so she's really a vendictive ghost seeking out the very woman that left her behind, wanting to ruin the family she created without her.

Theory 2.

The mother miscarries a child b/c she found out her husband was having an affair and so she's riddened with mental issues from it. They decide to make the marriage work by trying to adopt another baby out of guilt of losing their recent one. The affair woman..mistress...is nowhere to be found. Come to find out, the child they adopt is the reincarnation of the mistress the father actually murdered, like.. (what lies beneath) but she's fully animated. She comes to wreck havoc on the family he refused to leave for her.

I'm so curious about the movie but don't know what to think.

To ease every one about this adoption nonsense, be assured that most children today will know who their biological parents are. At least those that are born in the USA will. It's called open adoption and it is fairly new (last 10 to 15 yrs it's gotten very popular and basically mandatory). The bio-parent meets the adoptive parent. Depending on the agreement the parent can be able to become a friend of the family and all information is disclosed from a fairly young age. This is all thanks to those who saw this as an issue, parents who adopted, the adopted children, and parents of adopted children, and other members of the community. Although you may not be able to find your parent at least you can know that other adopted children will never have to go though what you are going through.

Its horrible if someone got raped and gave up the child, but its not the child's fault it happend, but i can see why some parents may not want that child to know they came to be in such a horrible way, and it may be better for the child to be with two parents who truely love and chose them. On the other note, If your a parent who just decided to have unsafe sex and get pregnant then feel stupid and want to remain hidden, You should be shit out of luck. You both (man and woman) had TONS of options not to have a child and still have sex, You screwed up by not following them, So you have no right to make a child feel tortured because your lazy.

If your too embaressed, Deal with it. You should feel more shame in damaging someone than owning up to your responsibilities. How do you think you will earn more respect? Saying i am your parent i made a mistake (even if you want to be part of there life or not , tell them so they know).. Or hiding like a complete selfish coward who shows no concern for it?

Sometimes it's better to be adopted even if your mother wasn't raped, my parents gave me up for adoption because they couldn't take care of me. I later found out the my BIO. Mother has been in and out of prison since before i was born, and my father was an abusive drug adict before passing away in prison.

My foster parents are great and in the end i'm glad my parents gave me up for adopion because now i have the oppertunity to be a better person then them because i didn't grow up in their world. So brandon you still have to look at the cases where the child is better off because the biological parents gave them up for adoption.

Look, giving a child in adoption because for this or that reason the person can't raise it is one thing. It can be irresponsability, fear, shame, or whatever eason.

What i think id wrong is that the No Birth Certificate takes into account the feelings of the parents and not the feelings of the child. A child has a right to know where he or she comes from. And just to save a parent 5 minutes of shame, you're denying a child the opportunity to come to touch with a part of his or her identity
