Mar 10 2009New 'Riddick' Movie You Coincidentally Haven't Heard About
Wondering what's going on with the Chronicles of Riddick franchise? What a coincidence! Gamespot news on that subject (via ComingSoon):
Maybe we're too tight-lipped about the next Chronicles of Riddick film, and I think circa the release of [this new Riddick video game] that's probably when you'll start hearing more about the next Riddick film. It is underway and I almost think it's a coincidence that we haven't heard anything, that there hasn't been a lot of public stuff on the Riddick movie.
I know it's a hell of a lot to chew on--the startling coincidence there's a new Chronicles of Riddick film being made and there hasn't been a lot of publicity about it--but sometimes the stars align a certain way and we're treated to a glimpse of the gods' magic here on Earth. Enjoy it while it lasts, friends.

A friend of mine was a sound engineer for the first one and said baldy up there (whose name escapes me) was one of the dumbest people he'd ever met.

Hey rag on Diesel all you want but leave the Riddick movies out of it they are two of the few good sci fi movies out there.

Here's hoping it's not like the second one.

The idea of a new Riddick movie excites me about as much as the idea of a new Crocodile Dundee movie.

+1 for Dundee

well as long as we're giving Riddick another go, where's our Kangaroo Jack's 2 and 3?
It'd only be fair.

I liked the first one a good bit. The second was not bad like everyone said it was, it was just ok. It did not feel the same for me as the first one did.
If it is like the first movie along the lines of more raw stuff happening and less Whoosh and Shwooom! Than I see it.

I loved the first one, and hated the second one. They crapped all over the back story and that is doom for a sequel. If Riddick was some furion god of war then why was a drug addicted bounty hunter able to kick his ass and catch him twice? What happened to getting your eyes shined for a carton of cigarettes? Riddick was made for the small dirty scifi crime story not saving the universe.

I liked both of them, and I know quite a lot of people who enjoyed the second one.
Given, I've only seen the DVD, Directors Cut version so I'm not sure what the theatrical version was like. Pitch Black was also an awesome film... not to mention COR Escape From Butcher bay for the XBOX was badass.
