The G.I. Joe forum HissTank has posted some new shots of the Cobra Commander toy, complete with head enclosure, fashion trenchcoat, "M.A.R.S. Industries radical exponential nano-injector system", and a snake. Some questions:
1. Look, I understand that sometimes comic book and cartoon visuals have to be reeled in for the big screen, but why replace the character's traditional, relatively humble metal mask (or sometimes hood) with this far more outlandish Terminator skull respirator?
2. Is this head thing metal or glass? I really can't tell. The photo makes it look metallic, but on the toy I can clearly see his Freddy Krueger head. Plus, the toy's included file card notes that Cobra Commander's "mask covers disfiguring damage from a fiery accident," so if it's transparent, it's doing its job horribly. Unless it's like those Transitions lenses.
3. When Cobra Commander got out of the surgery or whatever to put his head in this thing, was he not like, "Was I not clear that half the point of the mask was to make my horribly disfigured face slightly less repulsive? So why did you give me the nose of the FernGully bat? Come on, guys."

I think they got the backstory mixed up with snake-eyes... cobra commander has taken off his mask before and is not disfigured underneath it (at least in the comic book)... so ashamed to know that....

I'd rather go by the cartoon and original movie to define Cobra Commander's face. Which in that continum was disfigured by an experiment while living at Cobra-La I believe.
Besides any movie where the plot is essentially to take control of BET, is going to be freaking awesome. Why can't they just make a live action version of the original animated feature film? That'd be fly as hell

It seemed like CC was a little "meaner" with the hood rather than the metal mask.
I can only imagine what they will do with Serpentor because let's face it. They will come out with an even more terrible sequel... i.e. Transformers.

I always liked CC in the silver battle mask, but I don't know what the hell this skull shaped hockey mask thing is suppose to be?! I'm not picky I would have even accepted the hood. I get the feeling they will be selling this movie as a 3 for 1 special at Wal- Mart with Street Fighter and SF: The Legend of Chun-Li.

This version of cobra commander looks so ridiculous. I think its supposed to look kind of like his battle amour suit from the 90s comic series but it just looks way over the top, in fact I think this entire movie looks so lame and I grew up with GI Joe as a kid. I'm very disappointed. It's just way too much of a departure from the original. GI Joe is supposed be a special forces unit; in the movie they are a black opps spy unit; that's retarded. Well, the best we can hope for is that some one will do the same thing that happened when the first hulk movie turned out be so lame, maybe they'll do a total overhaul for the sequel. Do not go see this movie in theater, that should help the process a little. I've seen fan made trailers on youtube that looked better than this crap.

I am 27 years old, so i grew up on the joe's more than the average filmmaker. THe new mask isn't the worst thing ever-but the freaking movie itself stinks. Levitt saves this movie from total poop!

Damn- the mask does look like jason x. Why, Why, Why did they fuck this film up so bad. Im just a film student and i could have written a fucking better screenplay for this movie. I hope the 2nd movie isnt a total shit bomb like this one. I did love the excelerator suit sceen, not to bad?

the mask looks awesome. the old g.i.joe's sucked but trhe movie rocked. I liked destro and cobra commander. I got Duke reactive impact armor and cobra commander action figures. you can take his mask of but then you cant put it back on!!! i just used blue tac in the places u cant really see. It looks awesome.
toys woukd be 7/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i wanna get destro or snake eyes. storm shadow maybe as well!!!!!
