Mar 4 2009Good News if You Like Looking at Megan Fox

This news will make a handsome giftset with the Ratner-directing-Youngblood revelation in the category of Awful Comics Being Brought to Life By Hollywood Talent So Blindingly Appropriate that Fans and Haters Alike Cannot Help But Resoundingly Approve. Megan Fox starring as the hot, raven-haired, oft-naked heroine of the comic book Fathom? That is not disagreeable, except for the part about a Fathom movie:

Megan Fox is ditching the robots and taking her career to Western and underwater frontiers.

Fox is in final negotiations to star opposite Josh Brolin and John Malkovich in "Jonah Hex," Warner Bros.' action Western based on the DC Comics character. She also is attached to star and develop "Fathom," Fox Atomic's comic book-based underwater adventure.

In "Hex," being directed by Jimmy Hayward, Fox will play Leila, a gun-wielding beauty and love interest of Hex (Brolin), a scarred bounty hunter tracking a voodoo practitioner (Malkovich) who wants to raise an army of undead to liberate the South.

"Fathom," a comic created by recently deceased artist Michael Turner, follows a young woman named Aspen who learns she is a member of a race of aquatic humanoids who possess the ability to control water.

As for the Megan Fox-in-Jonah Hex news... I guess? I still don't know why Jonah Hex is being produced as a film. This is going to be the Pets.com of comic adaptations--the one that finally bursts the already thinly-stretched skin of the bubble. Sell your Comic Book Movie stock (CBM) now.

Megan Fox is the nineteen year old love interest of forty year old Josh Brolin? Whaa?

Fathom sounds like the stupidest movie megan will ever make (of course, I won't claim that yet, for she is still young, and hollywood still has many years of slow decline into no-new-ideasness)

Just your line about comic book movies. Are they going to stop making movies based on books? How about short stories? Oh wait. Comic books are "some other thing" huh. They're not fiction, or stories, no, they're comic books.

Way to be ignorant. Jonah Hex is a comic book, but also a great character and has great stories written about him. You Hollywood types just don't get comics, because you're too busy concerned thinking of them as some "off shoot" of literature. Rather, they are stories told, with pictures. With usually much more interesting characters if done right, than most other forms of fiction.

Let's see another spy movie, or wait, another movie about a teen who doesnt look good and then does. Oh wait, another pretentious boring movie about a reformed nazi in the 50's. Right.

I remember reading that comicbook as a kid in the late 70's, everybody in the block had at least 4 to 5 issues in hand. Me and my mates would run around the corner and pretend to be Fathom-dude, you know. I always liked how Fathom dude had laser-eyes and stuff. Pishhhooong Pishhooong! Pew Pew!

RooRarkMark... C'mon Man,that PETS.COM line was a CLASSIC! I for one am not going to watch FATHOM for the integrity of its literary sources, I'm going to watch FATHOM to see a wet Megan Fox for two hours in the vain hope she fights a shark who strategically rips off her swimsuit in all the right places. Ditto JONAH HEX, but replace "wet" with "dusty" and "shark" with "disfigured Josh Brolin" or "dingo"... shit, toss Scarlett Johannsen as Arisia in GREEN LANTERN and "Josh Brolin/dingo" with "Goeffrey Rush as Sinestro" and you have a comic book movie formula I can get behind! ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME "HOLLYWOOD TYPES"?

I'd like to see how Jonah Hex works out. The comics are fairly rad. At their best its like a Clint Eastwood western. At their worst Hex travels though time and fights in space. In other words, when Hex is at its worst its just ridiculous and tongue in cheek.

The above plot synopsis makes it had to tell which way there going though.

Also Marky Dark - if you're gonna use the line "With usually much more interesting characters if done right, than most other forms of fiction. " you probably should be defending a graphic novel like DAVID BORING, or BLACK HOLE or even CITY OF GLASS... probably not Jonah Hex... unless by "interesting characters" you mean hot babes with tits out. Then I am SO with you on this!

Whoa, the first run of Fathom was a great story with stunning artwork. Hopefully they'll go with the original story and not the new garbage

The plot description for Jonah Hex sounds like they took Wild Wild West and replaced Steam Punk with Voodoo.
