Mar 24 2009'Away We Go' Poster: This Movie is a Bit More Independently Stylish, Everyone

Look, this is cute and all--the little line drawings, the washed out colors, the unmissable similarity to the Juno credits--but I'm a firm believer in the design rule that a film's poster should not work equally well as a parody of what the film's poster would be. If the spoof comedy duo Friedberg & Seltzer's ever decide to continue their [Genre] Movie franchise with Indie Dramedy, this would be the poster, except their version would feature Austin Powers and Amy Winehouse as the couple, because imagine those two together!

Looks like some wierd amalgum of "She's Having A Baby," "Yellow Submarine" and the A-Ha video "Take On Me"

meh

Starring two people I could give a shit about...

there's got to be some kind of ointment for this fad

Let's just say its John Carter of Mars

Look everyone! Indie! Indie! It's an INDIE MOVIE!!

Indie movies have already become the "microbrews" in the 90s. After an inspired start, it suddenly becomes so dirrivative and mass-produced that it loses all its original spirit.

Case in point: Sam Adams before Coors bought them out.

Ugh... how painfully generic.

@4... same thing with Rolling Rock

IWS Guy/Gal - your Indie Dramedy idea is one of those best unspoken ideas - now that you've said it, like summoning some unspeakable horror from the abyss now YOU are responsible for the havoc such a thing manifesting upon all of us begets. Not sure that was a proper sentence.

Reminded me more of the Flight of the Conchords CD art, but either way it's ripping off something.

Why all the hate? I'd much rather see posters like this, and movies with the attempt of actually making a great film, than bullshit Nic Cage movies or "Frankenhood". THAT shit is "painfully generic". THIS poster, and film, are at least using some artistic talents, rather than throwing piles of cash at hackshit big name actors and hitting the explode filter at every breath.

So an indie movie starring Jim from The Office and that annoying bitch I want to stab in the throat with a hunk of glass?

Don't know if my love for Jim or my hatred for bitch will win out on this one...

@8

Yes. You're absolutely right. I would much rather see this than Frankenhood or Nic Cage's Hair but just because there are crappier movies out there doesn't make this any more original.

I think this might be purposely be an over cliched indie film...a sort of indie parody
