Mar 24 2009'Astro Boy' Trailer: We Should Never Give a Child Such Immense Power

It's '60s anime meets CGI; it's A.I meets Japan; it's Edward Scissorhands meets Superboy; it's Weird Science meets My Two Dads; it's whatever you want it to be (of those options)! The Astro Boy teaser trailer:

(Sorry the Hulu version didn't work.)

This may have inspired me enough to finally watch the original, innovative '60s series, if for no other reason than to moan about inaccuracies.

video fail

hulu doesnt show videos if you are not in the states..

It not called the World Wide Web for nothing.......

I effing *love* hulu, and it's the first time ever non-Americans have something to be jealous about

The characters dont look even vaguely Japanese. Even Speed Racer retained some of the original color and image design. New fans would respect something that doesn't look exactly like Pixar. This is embarassing.

does anyone else find it a little creepy that two grown men are in a darkened laboratory building a special little boy...

just like prof. plutonium building the "perfect little girls..."

@pekod
Have you even seem the original Tetsuwan Atomu manga and cartoon? Characters don't look "Japanese"? Neither were the source material.

@Brayden
The scientist built astro boy to replace the his son who died in a car accident as I remember.

Is it just me or does Astroboy look very much like Megaman in this shot? Now THERES a movie I'd go see.

I would also go see all 15 sequels.

This looks just like the originals with the magic of CGI added in. Early Japanese cartoonists wanted to sell their product around the world, so they usually made the characters not look East Asian on purpose (for some reason, some people were still a bit torqued about Japan's "outreach" efforts in the 1930's and 1940's).

Even today, much manga and anime have similar looks.

i wish he was topless

I wish he was topless and inside me

nic cage??

Well it looks completely different from what it is the real Atomu...as always Hollywood raped excellent stuff to feed dumb audience!!!!

i think the movie will be great. my son will surely like the astroboy. i will bring my whole family with me. I like the story, graphics and everything. i even enjoyed watching the trailer.

wow Gossip Girl xoxo!

@4: What about us Americans who are outside the continental U.S. protecting your ass and still can't see it?

@8: Megaman has always been and will always be a rip-off of Astro-Boy. Look at the original manga/anime (if something THAT early in japan's animation history could be considered in the same genre as modern anime) and then look at capcom's artwork throughout the Megaman series.

Capcom Executive A: I know! We need to make game based on Astro Boy!

Capcom Executive B: Yeah, but we're too cheap to buy the rights, and the creator is notoriously stingy with his characters! (Editor's Note: If u don't believe me, check out Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis, they had to wait till he died before they could throw enough cash at his widow to get the rights)

Capcom Executive A: Ok! Well we'll change his name fro Astro Boy to Rock Man, and avoid any law-suits! Oh, and we'll just throw a helmet on him to cover up that trademark hair!

Capcom Executive B: Yeah! That's a great idea! Now can I get back to designing Ghosts 'n Goblins?

Capcom Executive A: Only after you give me a big wet sloppy homo-man-kiss!

That's how the conversation went! I sh*t u not! At least that's how it went in my head. And both of the guys had big bushy beards.

Just in case you guys are haters, I gotta let u know that I LOVE Megaman, with all my heart. I just make it a point to know my roots! Word!

nice carton movie ,when i was in childhood.

is it just me or did that first flight scene look exactly like the teaser to Iron man

hehe, i haven't seen astro boy since i was 5 XD! a efw years have passed now im remebering how the his games were made of pixols, and then developed into something 3d and now a movie? hehe a i would luv to see astro boy it will unlock my childhood memories.
