Mar 4 2009'500 Days of Summer' Trades Repetition for H&O

Is "You Make(-a) My Dreams" the new "Mr. Blue Sky"? I think that's what the makers of 500 Days of Summer are going for, as they've exchanged the charming but repetitive Leslie Nielsen narration of the first trailer with a more conventional, clip-driven preview scored by indie music and the out-of-place Hall and Oates hit.

How many young, fictional romances will begin with one potential suitor questioning the other about what's on their headphones? At least Garden State and this one:

A girl in her late 20s who likes The Smiths!? Preposterous!

I love movies like this, they're all like indie and take themselves so seriously and i think they're so cute.

So jokes.

It's not Hall and Oats... It's one guy, his name is Holland Oats... God, get it right, Mark!

Now these guys are ripping off your karaoke jams, too. Brutal.

Man, Joseph Gordon Levitt for JOKER!

I was interested when I thought that was Cally from Battlestar in the picture, but I no longer care to see this movie.

This movie completely relies on the audience to fall in love with Zoey...

... Not that I'm saying they wont, but still!

"This movie completely relies on the audience to fall in love with Zoey..."

Considering that the role apparently calls for her to be unlikeable as possible, that's a tall order.

It looks ok but I just wish the movie would give us the title. I hate when trailers tease you with the movie's plot but not the title so we immediately go look it up when we get home. Does anyone know what this movie is called?
