Feb 19 2009'Thor' Will Be: Petulant, Wild, Natural Warrior, Other Things

What is director Kenneth Branagh looking for in his Thor? Coming Attractions has posted this casting call:

Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20'S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.

Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and severely humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature hero of our film.

So, if you know someone who fits the description, I suggest doing all you can to hide this opportunity from them. They've surely led a blessed life from being so physically powerful, very handsome, charming and witty, and you don't need to help them out any more. Why do you even hang out with this dude? As if you're going to get any girls with this egotistical, petulant, natural warrior around.

Damn, I know some six foot tall people who fit that bill, except they aren't made of lead. Maybe I can convince them to get die-cast...

FINALLY, the perfect role for The Rock (or Duane or whatever he's calling himself)!

Is Vincent D'Onofrio available?

dolph lungren FTW!

Laughed the hardest I have all day at this post!

Christian Bale?

I just have to chime in to say that up until this article, I was under the impression that Kenneth Branagh was *playing* Thor.

Yes, I am occasionally an idiot.

He may not be the right age anymore, but seriously, Matthew McCaunaghey would probably make a great Thor. The guy jumped at a dragon in Reign of Fire.

Mark Hamill

Maybe Matt Damon? (see Dogma)

As long as they don't try to cast Affleck as a second Marvel hero. Or any superhero ever for that matter.

Yeah, Christian Bale...
"Odin's Beard! Art thou a fucking amateur! Mortal, do not walk in thine line of sight! I refuse to return to Midgard, on t'morrow's morn if thou art still hired."

Great news, I am wondering when will the world economic crisis be ended? I feel very disappointed...Maybe find a rich guy on "C e 1 e b m i n g 1 e. C0M" is the best choice? I was told that some celebrities are dating there too.

Scarlett Johansson?

Mid-to-late 20s? That rules out any tolerable actor working in Hollywood. I was hoping for Kevin McKidd, but dude's too old now.

Hmm, let's see, "Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild." Sounds like me but I'm having too much fun doing porn.

By the way IWS writer, the spam is getting way out of control... again.

Ashton Kutcher

I'm liking Jack Nicholson using CGI to remove 60 years....

Is it bad that I've never seen a Kenneth Branagh directed movie?

And @8, you know what, now that you mention it, if he was like 20 years younger and buffed up, I think he could do it.

Well. All I can say is that there is one man, no scratch that one god that can act in any role imaginable. He can play as all of your favorite characters and you can't say other wise. Christian Bale. It's true. Don't lie to your self any more. He is Bruce wayne. John Connor. Just leave it at that. He is the greatness and is perfect for any role in the past present and future of cinema. He could play. Nick Fury. Michael Corleone. Vito Corleone. Elliot Ness. John Rambo. Gambit. Logan. Green Lantern. Rorscach. The list couls go on and on, but my tea is done.

1) @ 9 Yep, now that's physically what Thor should look like! You're on point axel. 2) I think they would be better off getting a unknown that physically looks similar to Thor, but can also act, theirs plenty of actors out there! Why does so many people want well known actors that don't physically match up? Matt Damon or Matthew McCaunaghey would be great as Captain America, but regardless who plays Thor he would have to appear taller and more powerful then the actor that plays Cap.

Matthew McConaughey? Rly? :-/

And I'm only saying this because 1) he's already playing a "viking" on True Blood and 2) quite frankly I love him for some unknown reason...

Alexander Skarsgard.

btw...I don't think they should use "the colorful super hero" in the poster or trailer for the real film unless they're getting say...Richard Simmons?

Male, must be mid-late 20's and six feet tall or taller.

-Me, me, me.

Physically powerful, very handsome, must be genuinely and severely humbled...

-I have a great body, and sometimes I go months without looking in a mirror.

He's not afraid to cry.

-This is a man we are talking about, right?

I think that Vladimir Kulich who played Buliwyf (pronounced 'Bull-Vine') in "The 13th Warrior" would be a PERFECT THOR!!

this role is SCREAMING for alexander skarsgard
