Feb 13 2009'Taking of Pelham 1 2 3' Trailer Needs Less Travolta

taking-pelham-1-2-3-trailer.jpg

Everyone can learn something today from this Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 trailer: if you're going to make one of those good guy versus criminal mad-man psychological battle movies, you've got get a good actor for both roles. A De Niro and a Pacino, maybe a Kevin Spacey and a Samuel L. Jackson if you're desperate. A Travolta does not work. It's an honest mistake, but one we should have known to avoid post-Battlefield Earth.

Now on to the bigger issue: does the subway control center look anything like this representation? A giant screen with all the tracks and trains lit up and moving around is actually the image I've had in my mind for some time (either that or all the tracks connecting to a giant brain under Grand Central), but I recognized I'm an idiot and that it probably looks nothing like that. MTA.info doesn't seem to provide this particular info.

What do you think? About how the MTA control room looks, I mean.

virtuosity two?

denzel in a tony scott movie? what?

why does john travolta suck so bad?

what was all that about milk?

why does this look so awful?

I know there was a "Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" movie before. (That's 1) And now they've made this. (That's 2) Does this mean there going to make a third one?

WTF!!!!

the guy is going as a hostage and all that woman can say to him is YOU KNOW WE NEED MILK,

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Here's the list:

Tony Scott: Win

Denzel: Win

Travolta as a bad guy: Win (his best movie was Face/Off, plays a great baddie)

Laugh all you want, but this looks good.

woah woah woah woah, dave... I know you're trying to be funny or whatever, but please, PLEASE never say that Face/Off was his best movie. PLUS, john travolta wasn't even the bad guy in that movie. did you not watch it? it was still nicholas cage's body and brain/mind/soul, but it had john travolta's face. An actor is much more than the face. I'd say Swordfish was the best movie with travolta... although he is the bad guy in that too... and Punisher was pretty awesome... ok so in conclusion, you have a point.

Ok, so this movie vaguely resembles the original in that there's a hostage situation on a subway. Looks like this was penned out and the crew decided it was close enough in theory to the '74 flick to consider it a remake. That or they just have such a huge hard-on for Tarantino that they wanted to be involved with a shitty remake of a classic that inspired Reservoir Dogs.

What garbage. Good thing Walter Matthau and Earl Hindman are both dead so they don't have to witness this. Maybe Jerry Stiller can avenge them.

Why'd they have to go 'head and fuck this one up too?

" if you're going to make one of those good guy versus criminal mad-man psychological battle movies, you've got get a good actor for both roles."

Like maybem Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau. To bad they never did this movie.

Sorry but this movie looks good to me. Can't wait to see it personaly.

Swordfish but underground

SWEET EFFIN HANDLEBAR!!! THIS LOOKS GOOD!!! SERIOUSLY, DELGO. I'VE ALREADY PRINTED FANDANGO TIX. DON'T PUNK OUT!

dude the poster was totally misleading, it looked like denzel was going to be a cop or an agent, not a freaking subway control employee...

at least denzel isn't playing a cop. anyone notice how travolta STILL needs a hairpiece to play a balding dude...even though he's bald?

this movie looks terrible. i hate tony scott (except for enemy of the state). but luis guzman is in it. and he rules me.

@ 4, 5 - You are both clearly idiots. Travolta's actual best movie is obviously Pulp Fiction. I'd assume you were just being sarcastic, but then you would've said "Travolta's best movie was 'Michael'", or "Travolta rocked in Look Who's Talking Now", but you didn't. And this movie is gonna suck. I'll still end up seeing it though. I always do.

can't hollywood come up with a villian who isn't a wisecraking psychotic? Robert Shaw was greeat as a prefessional mercenary.
