Feb 18 2009Rorschach and Nite Owl are Good Friends FOREVER
Have some Watchmen clips, everyone! See Nite Owl (not Rorschach like in the comic--ut oh!) visit Veidt and his hair wave. Revel in Rorschach being good friends with Nite Owl despite occasional arguments and accusations of insanity. Try not to worry that everything seems slightly stiff and unnatural--it should at least be better than the Joel Schumacher Batmen.

Looks better than I thought it would.

SECOND YOU SLUTS!!!!

The clips left me underwhelmed. Everything felt stiff and unnatural, as was said in the post. The slow motion parts felt like they were robbing the clips of all their energy. Not a good sign.

I'd have to re-read it again, but was Veidt so BLATANTLY evil so early in the story?
5. Leg3nd - February 18, 2009 2:32 PM
# 3 I agree..
#4 Yeah I'm confused about that my self he didn't seem as evil as he appears here.
6. speedball - February 18, 2009 2:53 PM
Whoa wait a second. At least better than the Schumacher Batmen? That's setting the bar a little low don't you think?
7. Metalmusick - February 18, 2009 3:07 PM
rorschach is the one that warns veidt, not dan.
and i cant find where they talk about john stopping the missiles, i know is around
8. What? - February 18, 2009 3:16 PM
Dear God,
Can't we just watch the whole movie? All at once, and not see 95% online in little effing pieces?
9. che-che - February 18, 2009 3:45 PM
BFF!
all this talking, i want some damn EXPLOSIONS!!! or ASS KICKKING!!!!!!

'Guys being sincere with each other' is always going to feel a little forced. I feel convinced that will be better in context. Veidt is never supposed to feel sinister...but oh well. They took out the squid, I suppose they can take out Veidt's aloof benevolence too.
Kind of offtopic, but it's amazing to me how pervasive the world's ignorance about nuclear weapons is. The heat and pressure of a nuclear explosion dissipates with the cube of the distance from the point of detonation. Only a MIRV (ballistic) warhead has a chance of doing significant damage to a single city. Stopping a large percentage of incoming ICBMs would, in fact, greatly reduce the amount of infrastructure damage and casualties, and leave us ready to counterattack with both nukes and conventional forces.

At least two confirmed minutes without slow motion.
12. tom - February 18, 2009 6:05 PM
This is some of the worst acting I've ever seen in a major motion picture. I smell a poo coming this month.

Crap. This movie is headed down the shitter...can't wait until Nolan redoes it twenty years later.

here's some slow motion and "action":

I feel weird that the thing that bothered me most about these (at least initially) is the way they say Rorschach.
16. Ans - February 18, 2009 8:43 PM
I always figured Rorschach's speech to be more juxtaposed and monotone. Similarly, I thought they'd augment John's voice, making it more inhuman. Not to be a fucking dick, but I don't think the characters are right.

(∩_∩)(∩_∩)(∩_∩) Let us know how to find those celebrities. Lucky me. I just found Britney Spears on

read the comic, penis lint.
19. sully - February 18, 2009 10:51 PM
@I watch stuff guy: Shumacher was stiff during the shooting of the Batmen too... gay joke!
@10: Nuclear weapons do more damage when they're detonated above the surface of the earth.
@12: Watch Gigli or any Paris Hilton movie... you'd be surprised how much worse acting is out there
@15: I think that's how it's pronounced... it comes from the guy's name who invented the psychology test right?
@16: You are being a dick. People interpret characters different ways, and since Zak Snyder is a "visionary" (although X3 didn't seem like a visionary script...) they must be right... assuming he is a visionary
@18: It's not a comic, it's a novel with pictures. get it right penis lint
20. justin - February 18, 2009 11:19 PM
no, it's definitely a comic book.
'graphic novel' is a term reserved for insecure twats who're afraid of other people's judgements.
this movie looks absolutely abysmal. i think i'm just gonna skip it.
21. soahc - February 19, 2009 12:31 AM
They fucking butchered this. Burn in hell assholes.
22. sal - February 19, 2009 1:03 AM
After seeing the watchmen condoms and the coffee, I think I'm just going to ignore everything else that's being rammed down my throat about this movie until it comes out. I mean I love the book as much as the next person but come the fuck on..... Don't make me so damn bored or irritated by it before I get a chance to see it. Argh. >:[
23. Ans - February 19, 2009 11:06 PM
I know there are different ways to interpret a character. I was just hoping they'd interpret them the right way.
24. Gabriel - February 20, 2009 9:16 PM
"You're a good friend!" WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
25. Condoms - February 23, 2009 8:22 PM
@22 ... so you're saying you've had condoms rammed down your throat?
26. weezie - February 24, 2009 7:14 AM
@22 was there a penis inside those condoms?
I’m seeing this tomorrow... going in with low expectations.
27. weezie - February 25, 2009 8:31 PM
The movie is good. It stays true to the book way more than expected. Fans will enjoy, its no masterpeice like the novel but its still enjoyable.
28. . - February 25, 2009 9:56 PM
Ew.
I'm going to attend this one drunk.
29. TetterkeT - March 6, 2009 3:13 PM
Guess what, everybody? The movie SUCKS.
30. Jason - March 8, 2009 11:55 AM
I forgot to come in and post comments about this movie, after I saw the pre-release last weekend. I enjoyed the plot and the action, but the man ass and blue slong action was too much for me. I felt like I needed a shower ... or hit a strip club just to re-man up, after this one.
Ooops there was a shit load of kids at this pre-screening too -- have to admit the sex scene was good, but felt bad for the Dad in front of me having to explain that to Johny on the way home.
31. pavementaled - March 9, 2009 2:06 PM
Great Graphic Novel.
Boring Effing Movie.
32. Angry Chinese Driver - March 9, 2009 11:44 PM
On the contrary, I never found the friend scene unnatural at all in the sense you guys did; I think that Haley did a SPECTACULAR job, and he made Rorschach that much more powerful for me than in the novel.
Rorschach's no cheeseball, so clearly him being "awkward" about saying things like that to Dan fits right in. He's not used to expressing such emotions, reaching out to others.
33. Curtis - March 14, 2009 5:48 AM
@20: Wow, just Wow. Sir, Graphic Novel means they put all of the original 12 issues of the comic, into one bound piece of work. Shut up. This movie is excellent for those people who are more mature than anyone that's still in school. It's not superman, batman, or anything like it. It's about Drama, its about the setting. Its not about your tiny dicks and your need to think that bad acting is purposeful stiffness. I can't tell a guy he's my friend without making him think I'm coming onto him. Get a clue
34. enggirl - March 18, 2009 9:37 PM
Not good at all. Very disappointing movie. Bad acting, bad writing, awkward "love scene", violence just for the sake of violence. Very 2 dimensional.
