Jan 16 2009Where the Wild Things Totally Grind Ollie Kickflip Shred Tony Hawk Pro Skate
A reader on /Film pointed out that Spike Jonze's skateboard company has released new a series of limited edition Where the Wild Things Are boards, each picturing a wild thing from the movie, so now you can get an idea of why kids might really get freaked out when they watch this film. Did the original illustrations of the bird-like one really have human ears? That's a horror.
I think what's also disturbing--besides seeing awkward monsters brought to life--is how coy most of them look. When I was reading the book as a kid, I never imagined the freaks shooting me glances that implied they wanted to sneak away to a bedroom.
Why can't I have this movie now?

The top ones in both sets are the only...valid, reasonably looking ones that I like.
The rest have this vicious look in their eyes, and they're going to leave me feeling uncomfortable for awhile.

I saw the movie last night, and it was absolutely magnificent. I am unsure how you managed to take out of this photo that the monsters "look like they want to go meet you in a bedroom" but that's obviously up to you..that's um a little weird to say the least. But yes, amazing movie that you can take your kids to (biggish kids (5 years +) But my fiancee and I went and saw it together, its just amazing.
