Jan 9 2009'Last House on the Left' Trailer
There have been so many completely unnecessary remakes of older horror films that it's easy to sweep them all into a neat pile where you can shout "stop it!" to all of them at once, but I have to admit that the trailer to Last House on the Left--which includes a strange, unexpected cover of "Sweet Child o' Mine" by the The Concretes' lead singer--seems pretty tense. Unfortunately, it also reveals so much of the conflict and resolution that I can't imagine what more I would get out of seeing full film. Already knowing an antagonist's head is cooked in the microwave, I'll just be waiting for that the whole time. It will be another King Kong, where I spent over an hour waiting for Kong to rip open the jaw of a dinosaur and the rest of the movie waiting for a replay.
Girls in bras can only entice me so much as long as the JC Penney catalog is still in print.

King Kong ripping apart a dinosaur? Epic.
I was actually holding out for Naomi Watts and King Kong to get it on... I would've settled for Adrain Brody and King Kong too...

That cover song made the trailer much, much better. Wish they didn't show everything though.

Fuck YOUUUUU Hollywood! Nooooo. This was his first movie if I remember. Creepy as fuck and cool to watch the revenge scenes. NOOOOO DAMNIT.

At first I was pissed, the original scared the CRAP out of me.
This one is way more hollywood, way less "snuff film".
Same exact concept, totally different movie.

Fizz, you hit it. Low budget, the villians were sadistic and realistically scary. Although the end of this trailer brought a twisted smile to my face.

When I first heard about the remake I was pissed, and when I saw this post I was fully prepared to break some one in hollywood. And yet once I actually watched the trailer, I wasn't all that up set.
The original holds a special place in my heart, but their approach to this film isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Too bad they essentially gave away the end. That was what was so unexpected in the first film.
Also, what the hell was up with those overalls?

LHOTL is one of the only films I couldn't bring myself to watch completely. Its that disturbing.

why? WHY?!? it looks like they have completely reduced the torture of the two girls and increased the revenge aspect of the film. while last house itself was a remake, i still rather watch that film, which almost amde me vomit, over this hollywood remake...

I watched TLHOTL on On Demand a few years back, I don't see the appeal or fear that people have for the original. I didn't know the story before hand so I will agree it was a suspenseful movie, but to not be able to finish it? I actually think this one looks better.

Strangely enough I approve of this movie as well...what is Hollywood up to? Trying to butter me up, eh?

I'm sorry to anyone looking forward to this, but it looks absolutely terrible. The original was disturbing and a masterpiece for the genre. This one looks watered-down and not nearly as faithfull as I'd hoped it would be. Just like any other Hollywood remake these days, it doesn't look an ounce bit scary or creepy as the original was. I mean, the story is still there, but the feel of the original isn't kept intact. A waste of money.

Ive been a huge horror fan for years, with "The Shining" being my all time fave for example, and I too recently saw Last House On The Left recently. I dont see what the big deal was with this boring and long B movie. Yes it was the original torture film before the genre existed and yes it was gritty, realistic, & pushed the envelope at the time but its not the type of horror film that stands the test of time. I literally had to tell myself to finish watching it because there had to be something big coming up eventually because I couldnt understand why anyone would have made a fuss about it. It also bugs me that since then it appears Rob Zombie has tried several times to duplicate that films style and Ive hated every attempt he made at it! LHOTL leaves a bad taste in my mouth for thats about it.The new film will undoubtedly be an improvement.

Oh and can someone explain what exactly was "creepy" about the original? THe only creepy part I remember was huge muffs.

I a few years ago I saw a remake of LHOTL entitled "Chaos" and it was one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen...I bought the ticket thinking I was about to see a French dark comedy of the same name (which was a remake of a Japanese movie of the same name). The movie fashioned itself as a cautionary tale about the dangers of buying drugs from strangers at raves in the middle of forests (and strangely, about mixed race couples?) and the acting was on par with a bad after school special. What the movie lacked in quality it made up for in pure snuff. To this day I have nightmares of the scene where one girl's nipple gets cut off with a bowie knife. Then the badies of the film made her eat said nipple. There was also a rather graphic scene of a girl getting ass-raped with a machete. My friend and I left the theater feeling like we had just lost a large part of our thereto forgotten innocence. Had we returned from a war zone or simply watched a movie? I have never seen LHOTL but to this day the viewing of Chaos is in my top ten most disturbing experiences of my life.
That being said, the trailer for this remake looks pretty shitastic.

Pretty fucking stupid since a HUGE majority, probably even ALL, microwaves wont turn on with the door OPEN.

Is this a third remake?? I saw the original in a drive in theater in about 1970 and the ending in that one was a shocker of all shockers- It had a first for non porno movies.

just keep telling yourself:
it's only a movie!

Wow! I have never even heard of this movie. Looks like i am am going to have to go get the older one, because this movie looks like a good psychological suspense movie!

For fuck's sake! The original was so good cos of it's cheapness and weird tone. Bizarre comedy moments and a soothing folk soundtrack mixed with the brutal acts on screen. This remake looks too slick and uninspired. FUCK IT.
