I would die if they made a live-action story about Trunks, but with the series so character-driven, and with so many rules and plots driven by years and years of seasons of the show (we watch Goku grow from a boy, to a man, to a father, to a grandfather!) i don't know how any movie could just pick up anywhere in the timeline and tell the story WHILE being faithful to the original story.

Some things need to be changed in order for the movie to work, as long as they don't mess with the characters. Is Spider-Man ANYTHING like Amazing Fantasy 15? N.O. But people loved it anyways. Will this movie do well? Its hard to say, but if people go in wanting the movie to suck, bias will overpower actual critisism.

That's where this movie's respect to its source material ends. Superman returns, Batman begins, Dark Knight, IronMan, Spider man 1, 2, 3, X-men2... All of these movies were massive blockbusters because of their respect to their source material.

Instead of following in their footsteps, this movie is going to be yet another crappy Bulletproof Monk with a very cheap Dragonball skin tacked on.

Dragon Balls weren't created to fight the alien invaders. They summon a Genie(Dragon, whatever) that grants a wish. Goku is a complete retard/kung fu god. Bulma is there for the eye candy. Roshi(*shudders* don't use that name, please) is an old perv. Piccolo is an elderly Devil. How could they get all of that wrong?

Like the Kamehameha... They make it look so climatic, so powerful, when Goku has been able to shoot them at will ever since he saw Turtle Perv perform it once.

And Bulma.... Why is she a leather clad badass again? She's a whiny rich girl that doesn't ever do anything useful, 'cept for the occasional gadget.

Dragonball isn't just a manga or an anime. It's a culture. It's been around for decades. And yet, those morons are gonna take a dump on it.

See...at first when I heard about it I didn't want to see it...but after I sat down and thought about it...why the hell do I want to watch something I already seen again but with people. I think the reason a lot of you don't like it is because it isn't the cartoon. (Yes, I know this is obvious.) What you don't realize is that this could be separate from what we know and love...why not give this new way of seeing the series a chance...granted it's not super flashy like all the movies people are used to but there was a time back in the day when sfx like these were considered awesome. The story may end up being good who knows. I for one am going to see this movie because I'm a bit intrigued by this. I'm not saying it's going to be a great movie...I'm just saying give it a shot who knows.

The Dragon is Really nice, I think the whole budget when to the Dragon and the Balls and is why the rest looks so hi-fi channel . Anyways I think Death Note Movie did a better Job and overall it worth a download ;). Now lets think, the dont let this elite use us with their tricks.

Ok to set the record straight. 1. The characters in the cartoon/anime (whatever you want to call it) are not Japanese, they are Chinese. (Except of course the obvious white characters... dont be ridiculous in your comments theres no reason to state the obvious) Now the story is based on a old Chinese moral story, but the writers, character names, production location, and pretty much everything having to do with making the cartoon/anime is all Japanese. 2. I dont care what anyone says....this Movie will suck 3. It wouldve been better if they just made the first ten minutes a summary of Gokus life( cut scenes of a kid coming from space, maybe some training scene, really anything) then started at around the time Fageta came to earth. Piccolo looks like The Mask, from the Jim Carey movie, let alone that he doesn't even has the feelers on top of his head, like in the cartoon. Bulma is a babe all of a sudden and Master Roshi is young again? By the way.. Where's Vegeta.. or Raditz.. Or any other rival of Goku..

This is entire movie has nothing, absolutely NOTHING, to do with the cartoon, manga, however you want to call it.

It's just a lame, big time failing movie that will end up nowhere else then inside the trashcan!

Can people just stop using phrase "rape my childhood" or other phrases to that effect? This movie isn't going to ruin your memories or anything. Just Youtube the original episodes and bask in nostalgia if you've got such a hard-on for the show. If I wanted to see the same stuff in the cartoons, I would watch the cartoons.

I loved DBZ. I LOVED it. I have middle school notebooks full of doodles of climatic battles featuring the characters. But I don't care how bad this movie is. And yes, it will be fucking terrible. This trailer made me cringe, but I'll still see the fucking thing in theaters. Let me just tell you that this cannot be any worse than Dragonball: The Magic Begins. That shit was just bizarre. And I saw that when I was a kid and knew that it was just odd. At least this gets the names right.

I feel awful for the people who have made this film as they have somehow made the film that nobody wanted them to make. All everyone wanted to see was Goku go super saiyan with sweet effects and like an hour long fight with one of the COUNTLESS cool enemies that Akira Toriyama made and make loads of sweet references to the comics and anime for the fans to go 'AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'. They didnt need to try and repackage it as some cool new hip franchise cus dbz has been round for over 25 years and who the hell is gonna go see a dragonball film except the fans anyway? and now no one is gonna see it and if they do it will just be to see how awful it ACTUALLY is. This film is gonna be worse as the Never ending story 3. Thats right, I said it.

and also look at goku's receding hairline. Goku would never be going bald as he keeps his hair even throughout dragonball GT! not that that counts for anything as GT was a Mountain ranger's wife's gash.

LOOK, I dont know exactly what to think. OBVIOUSLY whoever was in charge of casting should be castrated, but i thought it would look MUCH worse. DBZ is impossible to get right in a 2hour nugget. I think i want to watch it, I dont particularly want the film to flop - since it's obvious that they want to do it again properly (sequels) with less retarded villains. GIVE ME FREEZA and CELL (I understand you need an intro movie).
