Dec 30 2008Heart-warming Tale of Doll That Lives on Human Tears
Do you live near a Carmike Cinema, have kids and the desire to instill upon them the lesson that their pathetic tears may bring toys to live? Then, and only then, you might want to watch this trailer for The Velveteen Rabbit, showing exclusively in Carmike Cinemas this February. Finally, Carmike gets a break! Suck on that one, Loews.
Touting that the scion of Michael Landon directed something is one of the saddest, strangest ways to gain cred.

Meh. Seems iffy. I'm not a kid anymore so I can't judge it properly.

THIS IS THE MOST OFFENSIVE THING I'VE EVER SEEN
Why Hollywood, WHY?!? The story is perfect on its own, why would they bastardize it into something utterly different FOR NO REASON?
Arrghhhhhhhhhhh. *bashes head on wall*

i wonder if the kid gets scarlet fever in this version or if they've modernized the illness; changed it to AIDS, perhaps?

IF THAT FUCKING RABBIT DOESN'T DIE THIS IS WORSE THAN CUTTING THE SQUID OUT OF "WATCHMEN"! I'm ready to boycott Carmike Cinemas, who's with me?

Doesnt the rabbit and the rest of the dolls get burned. There better be some fire at the end of this movie, or else the whole lesson is lost on this generation.

The rabbit didn't actually burn after the boy recovered from scarlet fever. The fairy showed up and took him away to become a real rabbit.
That being said, I have little faith that any studio would actually be true to the story or not use this as some sort of political soapbox.
