Dec 12 2008'Goemon' Trailer: It's Like if Anime Were Semi-REALITY

goemon-trailer.jpg

Kaz Kiriya, the director of Casshern--which I've never seen, but I hear is nice to look at--has a new film coming out in a language you probably don't speak. It's called Goemon, and it looks like a well-made cut scene from a video game about awesome ninja battles.

As people in the comments of Twitch noted, if you're going to make an adaptation of Dragonball (you shouldn't), this is basically how it should look (but maybe with a higher effects budget):

That guy is matching that other guy kick for kick! In front of the sun!!! I'm betting I'll be able to enjoy this thing well enough even without subtitles

I'd watch that.

Firstish?

Second?

Casshern was absolute garbage. Pretty pretty garbage. Perfume and make-up won't help this movie out either unless it brings more to the table than that 2 hour-long mistake.

BAH! I thought this wasgoing to be a treatment of The Legend of the Mystical Ninja aka Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyuushutsu Emaki!

Loved Casshern for every reason others hated it. Definitly going to check this one out.

this looks like shit/.
look at the shitty backdrop!!!!!!!!!!

shitty backdrop, good ideas, awesome content but specially, a real effort to make something different and meaningful, not just incredibly xpensive and bad use FX that have no real reason to be there except to sell a movie built from ideas that are just crap to start with and to hide this from people in america, which will go and see the same movie with a different name and different soundtrack. :)

i thought this was gonna be about the goemon game's also... it'd be cool if some anime movie was made for those games.

Sounds like fanboy hate all up on this mutha... jeeez...

If they polish the look of this work for something like the live action "Ninja Scroll" film it would make a bigger impact in the US.

Seems that random, single, named titles from other countries have more dialog than American ADD can keep up with. Same asses that hated on Akira.

wow!

blah

Japan! Fuck Yeah!

I can say, because I actually sat through and watched ALL of Casshern, that it was a bad movie. Not in a "this is so bad its funny" sort of way, just bad. It definatly felt like it could have been an anime/manga at one point, but the live action thing was just horrible. A lot, I mean A LOT of green screen, and bad CGI. If i had to like something, it would be the steam punk-ish technology.

Casshern was rad, but perhaps too long - (it should have been a trilogy.) But this looks equally good. You should see Casshern.

This looks realy nice. Since I never played the game, I can enjoy the movie for what it is.
As far as Casshern goes, it was a horrible translation. The anime was Casshan:Robot Hunter, and it was good. The live-action was designed for an American audience; hence the horrible(but nobody knew it was horrible) translation of the name, and really poor execution of the movie, which had nothing to do with the premise.

This is just making me think Final Fantasy 7 advent children as far as realism but that was awesome

Do I see Vincent from Final Fantasy swining down that rope at 00:16 ?

What was that even. cut-cut-cut-cut-and-cut. All I'm left with are brief *bad* cgi shots and vague feeling that somebody's fighting.
And that one dude that apparently really hates columns and decides to smash one...

At least looks better than the stupid dragoball movie

I actually saw this movie in Japan. It was completely F*$king amazing!!!!!!! I saw casshern.......it sucked. My girl was with me......it got her at one point.(tears). this is what live action anime should look like. the low quality web previews do it no justice.
I am not an easy sell on movies of this sort......BUT WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can barely speak a few words of japanese and was still able to follow the story quite well. the action is completely insane. not cheesy like casshern. its about 2 1/2 hours long but uses the time wisely to help you develop a bond with the characters.
this movie is a solid 9 no matter what language you speak and deserves to be watched by anyone that calls themselves a movie fan.
