Dec 22 20082000AD Giving 'Judge Dredd' Another Shot
Time to make another Judge Dredd movie:
Rebellion and 2000 AD are proud to announce that Judge Dredd is coming to a cinema near you soon!Together with DNA Films, the movie production company behind such great sci-fi movies such as Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later, Judge Dredd will go into production in 2009.
Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director said, ‘We can’t give away too many details at this point, but we’re looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen.’
It's adorable how 2000 AD is trying so hard to follow in the successful footsteps of DC's Batman and Marvel's Iron Man. I'm just a little worried that, despite how dark and faithful I'm sure they mean to make the adaptation, the number of fans excited for such a project is definitely outnumbered by people who either have never heard of Judge Dredd or remember hating Sylvester Stallone and Rob Schneider in Judge Dredd 1995 edition (see: Punisher). Even if they get their first choice for the lead (surely Jason Statham), I don't see this working out. But feel free to prove me wrong, 2000 AD. Make me believe one man in the post-apocalyptic future can be judge, jury, AND executioner while wearing large shoulder pads.
Judge Dredd Movie is Green Lit [2000 AD]

Idk, I thought the one with Sylvester Stallone was kinda classic, but I also thought Demolition Man was kickass

NOBODY MOVE!!! This is a holdup!!!! I'm here to steal FIRST!! That's right, Andrew... hand it over and nobody gets hurt!. While we're at it... you can throw in SECOND too, Surgery. Nice and easy... no sudden moves.

Who plays the lead is irrelevant, it's really about a police-state future in England, and what better subject these days?
The comics were awesome

A police-state future in america from an English comic born out of its previous comic, eagle or action i can't remember which, being banned due to a mistake on the cover from a storyline about police state thatchers britain.
anyway about time rebellion announced this.
They've been saying ever since they bought 2000AD this is what they was going to do.
Can't wait.
Where's my rogue trooper film?

Rogue Trooper was a great comic (along with Judge Dredd).

Any version without a Stallone in the eponymous role will be an improvement.
Yes, I saw the original film version, and no, I don't feel better for having admitted it.

If they re-made Demolition Man maybe then at least we could all find out how you're really supposed to use the seashell "toilet paper."
I know I saw Judge Dredd, but I don't remember it at all and I think it's okay living my life this way, including the 2000 AD version.

Sorry Brian but in all the confusion of robbing Andrew and Surgery you forgot one small detail *THIRD*!!! Oh ya and one other thing this is a terrible idea... lets hope it's better then the original one.

@4: you're thinking of brit-cit. I can't wait until it's out. I bet they'll go for one of the good old epics for the storyline, e.g. cursed earth, judge cal, the apocalypse war.
