Nov 21 2008'The Wrestler' Trailer Flying Elbows Onto I-Net

Man, Mickey Rourke is hard to look at. In this trailer, when he says he's "a broken down piece of meat," he is not kidding. I recommend only looking at his face by poking a pinhole in a box and letting his shadow form on a paper plate (instructions). Despite that, this looks really good, even though the combination of sad images/dialogue and depressing Bruce Springsteen song make you want to kill yourself (or let Mickey Rourke kill himself). The best part is when he emerges from the back of a van, and the group of children attack him like the monster he is:

(Thanks, everyone who sent this. HD here.)

I bet this ends up being surprisingly big. It seems like Aronofsky's films usually miss the crowd that wears Undertaker shirts to work, but they'll be lovin' this. "I told you it was real!"

Darren is one of my favorite directors....pie was amazing, requiem is one of my favorite all time movies, the fountain was beautiful and Im sure this movie will repeat his magic. I will be in line for this the day it comes out.

Oh...and first faggots!

I can't wait to see this. It looks like an incredible film. And props to Rourke for learning how to take actual bumps.

It looks surprisingly tender. Kudos to Rourke - this looks like a great performance.

@Matt-It's Pi, not Pie. Dolt!

This looks incredible! I can' wait for this. Though, it looks a bit too much like Rocky.

yeah, pyieeiy was pretty amazing. I wonder if Mickey bones Marisa Tomei or Evan Rachel Wood?

Um, does anyone remember Rourke playing the lovable brute in "Sin City"? Isn't this just a re-hash?

And how does he manage to look more ugly with LESS makeup than his Sin City character? Quite a feat.

MATT, that's how you post a "first"! I love the ending LOL!!!

Todd Barry?! Niice.

Is that Mickey Rourke's real face or what?

This looks really great.

i'm glad: it seems that Darren Aronofsky is taking a slightly different route in directing this...not saying that i didn't like his previous movies, i'm just glad he's changing it up a bit.

i think mickey rourke is made of some kinda weird clay-like substance

I'm fairly sure he DOESN'T have sex with Evan Rachel Wood, seeing as he's playing her father. If he does though, we've seriously missed something in this trailer...

I'm keen as hell to see this. Rourke has always been a fantastic actor, he just used to be attractive. Now he's a tad unsightly. Makes for a more melancholic character portrayal though.

I've seen the film and it's quite good. I don't think it's going to be "surprisingly big" if by that you mean box office. I wouldn't doubt a nomination for Rourke or Aronofsky.

And trust me, no one will say, "I told you it was real" in regards to wrestling after watching this. Part of the fun is seeing how they fake stuff that looks real.

Oh, and it is NOTHING like Rocky.

@7 - Sin City lacked one thing: The Fucking Necro Butcher.

your all gay fags this film looks like watching wrestling. gay and faggy. ha get a life everyone suck my balls. im going to have sex with my hand then tomorrow on saturday night hopefully with a real gurl. fuck u all this film looks like bull testicals.

man im drunk

no, no... this really does seem like the wrestling version of rocky balboa.

aww how cute
*barfy*

silly mickey rourke

Huh, that's like word for word what happened to Jake the Snake.

It may seem a little faggy, but c'mon... Jennifer Connoly's boobs are all over this movie. WOOP

First I though it is a brokeback mountain wrestling version
After, I thought the woman is his kid.

This looks like one of the best films of the year and I for one cannot wait to see it. Micky look to me as sexy as he ever did in 9 and a half weeks. 55 he may be but I still would!

I wonder if Mickey bones Marisa Tomei or Evan Rachel Wood?
