Nov 18 2008Sammo Hung Will Fight Specially-Trained Army of Monkeys
Sammo Hung, the veteran Hong Kong action star you all know from the '90s Rush Hour-style CBS cop series Martial Law (alongside Arsenio Hall!), is in talks to star in Dark Horse Films' War Monkeys. From THR:
Sammo Hung is negotiations to star in "War Monkeys," a horror comedy shaping up to be the biggest feature yet from the independent arm of Dark Horse Films.UTA-repped Kevin Munroe ("TMNT") is in negotiations to direct the film for Dark Horse Indie.
The horror comedy follows two janitors who, during a Christmas holiday, get trapped in an underground research facility after accidentally unleashing military-trained Rhesus monkeys. Hung is one of the janitors who battles the rabid simians.
To give you an idea of what Sammo Hung and another guy fighting an army of armed Rhesus monkeys might be like, I've included a clip below the cut that should help you envision it. Just pretend everyone but Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao (Pete Wentz-hair guy) are monkeys.
I hope they don't CGI these monkeys. We need to see man fight monkey for real.

...maybe you knew this, maybe you did'nt, but, i figured if you did'nt, it'd be a fun lil' tidbit o' trivia...the movie is called "eastern condors", and you see that skinny, giggling guy in the gray suit? remember the husband and wife team in "kung fu hustle"...well, he's the landlady's husband...20 years ago. (yeah, i'm huge kung fu movie geek) this was the movie that made him a huge kung fu star. and, if you're at all interested...speaking of the landlady...remember that james bond flick with roger moore where he ends up in thailand, and he gets jumped by a whole dojo of karate students, and jame's buddy shows up with his 2 neices, and the 2 girls then procede to kick the whole dojo's ass? well, the landlady was one of the 2 girls who played the neices. ok, i'm done now.

is Mignola attached to this project? He's with Dark Horse, and he loves genetically/mechanically altered monkeys...

Geez let's hope we know him from something other than that, the guy's been in like a hundred movies. good for him for always keeping it real and not just doing silly stuff like Jackie Chan.

umm i love the "huge kung fu" star's completely inaccurate baloney. thanks for the history lesson guy. no one who is an actual kung fu fan can even stand Kung Fu Hustle, that was the worst, stupidest parody movie ever. sammo hung's been doing movies for almost 50 years. i swear the next person who tells me Kung Fu Hustle is their favorite kung fu movie is going to get punched in the face.
GAH!!!!!!!! i can not stand people who pretend to like asian movies and all they know of are the like 5 big super famous americanized bs ones or even worse, those 'brought to us' by that fool Quentin Tarantino.
*eye roll*
