Nov 12 2008Pegg and Frost Helping 'Paul' Return to Alien Homeworld

Hey, fellow Simon Pegg/Nick Frost fans, this Variety article has shed some new light on their upcoming project with Superbad director Greg Mottola:

Story revolves around two British slackers who, after visiting Comic-Con, go on a road trip to Area 51, where they encounter a small alien named Paul, who enlists them to help him find his way home. Pegg and Frost penned the screenplay for the pic, which will shoot in March.

In keeping with Pegg/Frost tradition, we also know of one scene that's virtually assured in this dangerously Mac and Me-resembling premise: the alien Paul adorably requesting a Cornetto.*

*I'm aware this isn't officially part of the Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz/The World Ends "blood and ice cream trilogy", but if it were, Cornetto could be the new Reese's Pieces in the tradition of treats popularized by home-seeking movie aliens.

I'm thinking it could be okay. But Pegg's credibility could be shot if Star Trik tanks. Scotty or not, he's on that ship and if it sinks....

*and the misspelling is intentional. I love to stir the pot of the nerds. All they ever do is write a letter! JJ Abrams will ruin the franchise and destroy the mythos of their beloved religion to such point that they will denounce their affiliation with said sci-fi franchise and will convert to a lesser demeaning outlet for their nerdiness - world of warcraft (which still has cosplay!). To which upon announcing their new passion, will only be met with renewed flames from friends and coworkers upon the news. Their mothers will bake them some cookies and tell them things will work out in the end - but really they don't. Sad, but self inflicted. No sympathies here.

@ CaptainMorgan:

What the fuck are you ranting about? I thought this post was about a movie that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are in, not about Star Trek.

Why is there no boobs in this post? We need to see boobies!

The world ends? What's this movie I couldn't find it in IMDB?

With that basic rundown, it sounds like Phil The Alien, only with comic nerds and Area 51 instead of rednecks and Northern Ontario. Still, love Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, so looking forward to it.
