Nov 5 2008'Cadillac Records' Trailer Will Buy You a Sweet Car
Sony has released the trailer to Cadillac Records, the story of Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright), Chuck Berry (Mos Def), Etta James (Beyoncé), Big Willie Dixon (Cedric t. Entertainer), and Chess Records owner Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody). If most single-musician biopics have a decent chance at a big award, imagine what this chewed up wad of them will do when it gets spat into theaters. Time for Beyoncé to win those trophies she missed with Dreamgirls and Austin Powers in Goldmember!

Who keeps putting Beyonce in movies? They should have to watch a Beyonce Movie Marathon as punishment.

I suppose this movie will try to drive home the idea that blacks were singing Rock N Roll before whites... not true. Blacks were singing some of the foundations of what was to be part of rock (boogie-woogie, jump-blues, etc)... but no black singer was singing like Elvis, Johnny Burnette, Carl Perkins, etc pre-1954. It wasn't until white artists heavily-infused country into the blues that it became rock n roll. You need Hank Williams as much as you need Muddy Waters to make that happen. That said black artists were no doubt robbed and treated like shit in those days...
Sorry for the rant... I just love rock history and I see it butchered in this apologist PC way all the time.

@ #3 Well, sir.... Hate to tell u, but u're wrong.... If you say that''s what Black people did w/ rock and roll, you CAN'T count Elvis. The first 3yrs of his career he was considered one of the 1st performers of ROCKABILLY ((an uptempo fusion of country and rhythym & bluse)) seeing as how rhythym & bluse ((R&B)) was a style of music founded by blacks, it would be safe to say ELVIS PRESLEY IS A BITER!!!! Also, you may want to consider the fact that LITTLE RICHARD came before Elvis, performing the same type of music ((but better))
White people just stole Rock n Roll and turned it into that screaming bullsh!t u hear most of the time....

Little Richard was performing boogie-woogie/jump-blues... and I'm quite aware of what Rockabilly is... My pompadour and cuffed jeans are a proud testament to that fact. Rock N Roll relies as much on the infusion of the white sound as the black sound. And to say Elvis is a "biter" just shows your ignorance (I guess Charlie Pride is a biter since he appreciates the white man's country music).

What's up with the strawman argument going in in here? It's common knowledge that black AND white musical traditions combine in the evolution of rock 'n' roll (despite what Mos Def might say). This trailer doesn't give any indication that they are going to blackwash (if I can use that word) rock 'n' roll. It's about Chess - a blues and r'n'b label. Your anger seems a little premature.
