Here's your trailer to Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, starring Rhona Mitra as Sonja, Bill Nighy as Viktor, and werewolves as Lycans. Summary, from Apple:
The third film in the $200 million UNDERWORLD franchise delves into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires, known as Death Dealers, and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). A young Lycan, Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement.
I almost get the impression that the vampire/wolf conflict here could be analogous to real-world oppressions! So controversial:
Werewolves vs. vampires: whoever wins, we lose $11.50.

if any studio execs are reading this, i have an idea for a new franchise that well generate 300 million (yeah suck it underworld). it's called overworld and it's about the battle between unicorns vs leprechauns. if you think underworld was action packed, your tits will be blown off at the all cgi unicorn storming of the leprechaun castle.

When will moviemakers use their new, awesome technology, models, robotics, makeup - all of it - to make AWESOME, badass werewolves (as they should be)?
Well, at least this one centers on werewolves slaughtering vampires. I like that premise.

I think both Underworld 1 & 2 are better then your average shoot em' up mindless action flicks. They have a deep backstory full of tragedy and betrayal. This is that backstory, so I would imagine it'll end up being decent.

I was thinking more of huge, muscle-bound beastmen with wolf features (heads especially, that would look like wolves instead of bears or something equally messed up) except for their humanoid torsos and clawed hands. Now THAT would be badass. I've never really seen any movie even trying to portray werewolves the way I think they'd appear coolest and most menacing...
Also, one of my biggest complaints about Underworld is the very stock sounds they use for the werewolf growls and snarls... I mean, they sound good, yeah, but you hear them everywhere. I could name a thousand different places I heard almost all the growls in the first Underworld.
Then again, most werewolf movies suck anyway, unfortunately. This one at least looks better than the first Underworld, though the werewolves could still use some serious improvement (the faces, primarily; I'm glad they made them actually be muscular and furry, at least). Maybe I'll try to watch it on DVD when it comes out. Michael Sheen was good in the first one as a werewolf (and I was sorely disappointed when he got killed), so I expect he'll be good in this one as well.

Can someone explain to me why the hell does this Underworld trailer have the same music as Max Payne? Is that a hint? Is Maximus Paynius, the great great great grandfather of our most beloved NYPD cop the chosen one who will forever restore the balance between Lycans and Death Dealers? Look forward to seeing some Bullettime bow and arrow shooting.
Anyway, I love the Underworld franchise, but this prequel sounds like a bad excuse for not beeing able to sign Kate Beckinsale for a third movie. After what happened in Evolution, I was looking forward to see Kate's new powers... Tough luck, I guess...

Woah! This movie looks BADASS! Michael Sheen looks alot more badass in this one then he was in the first one. Its all about being BADASS! But, uh, I guess that Marylin Manson song is pretty popular, first Max Payne, then this. Atleast this one has vampires...

Also...what's the point of this movie without Kate Beckinsale? This movie is already missing the money shot.

Ugh, these movies are painful, even with the neat atmosphere.
And not just because vampires > werewolves. (especially the craptastic looking ones they keep putting in movies) I say that and wolves are my favorite animals and I have a wolf dog, ha. The main characters are generally.. unbearable. And this can't air anytime soon, can it? With the same music as in all of the Max Payne trailers??
World of Darkness style vampires and werewolves ftw!

I liked the underworld movies, I'm not sure about this one but I like the actor who plays Lucian. And if i could choose how werewolves looked in movies I'd defiantly go for the druid werewolf from Diablo 2

i dont know I HATED THE FIRST TWO, THE FIRST ONE was just a copy of THE MATRIX, everything, think: THE WALLS, THE BUILDING, THE SETTING, i mean not just the trenchcoats or glasses i get that but alot of things from THE MATRIX were copied, the second one was worst...
but THIS ONE actually looks REALLY GOOD!!!!!!! i dont know it just looks really nice, i dont know but i prefer this girl 100% better than kate beckinsale, MUCH BETTER, this movie looks better than the other ones and it looks like it has good action,

i absolutely adored the first installment but almost died from disappointment with the second.
true, underworld does echo a lot of elements from the matrix. however, underworld possesses a great storyline with a facinating backstory. i also fell in love with the casting. (lucian and viktor are seriously kickass. heck, even the lycan scientist was brilliant as well!)
yes, i know it's a prequel, but an underworld movie without kate beckinsale feels rather odd. i don't think they can make it as good as the first, but i would still watch this third movie, just to see bill nighy and michael sheen reprise their roles, plus, it's good to see sonja finally resemble selene.

That song is definitely more appropriate for this movie. You know? 'Cause there's vampires and shit. But it's still too soon after that Max Payne trailer. That blows.
So I guess this is a prequel, because Viktor definitely got his head chopped in two. *weeps*
