Oct 10 2008Seth Rogen Making Cancer Hilarious
Seth Rogen and Mandate Pictures have picked up a pitch for a comedy about... cancer! Hey, cancer isn't funny; it's deadly! OUTCRY! Except this is the autobiographical story of a 25-year-old's struggle to fight the disease, which doesn't really sound offensive at all. OUTCRY RESCINDED! THR reports:
Mandate has picked up "I'm With Cancer," a comedic autobiographical spec written by Will Reiser that Rogen will produce with his writing-producing partner Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin ("The Daily Show With Jon Stewart").Rogen also will have a supporting role in the film.
"Cancer" is Reiser's account of his struggle to beat cancer, with the story centering on a 25-year-old who finds out he has the disease. Reiser was a producer and field producer on HBO's "Da Ali G Show" and VH1's "Best Week Ever."
If anyone is thinking of getting offended by this, just keep in mind that we'll be laughing AT the cancer, not WITH the cancer. And if we can't laugh at the cancers, the cancers have already won.

Cancer is just metachlorians trying to give us jedi powers and our bodies not taking to it. We need evolution to speed up.
We have the technology, the time is now!

Look what cancer did to his hair- it deflated a few inches....
I bet this has some sad parts that wouldn't make people cry unless the rest of the movie was funny and happy

These guys couldn't make horny teenagers funny in SUPERBAD and now they're going to try to make cancer funny? No, no, no. They need to try and make something funny from something funny first and succeed before taking on a challenge. Like circus clowns or Madonna talking.
I'm sorry but SUPERBAD was the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. It was made worse by the Making Of featurette where the morons who made it talk about it as if they'd made some comedy classic. They even included a videotape of a table reading. Ach! Hideous.

For all we know this could be a gentle comedy with a nice message. Seth isn't above that.

@The JuRK
There are lots of people who enjoy Seth Rogens movies, that's why he's famous and successful and you're some loser posting on a movie blog. So please save your bitching for someone who cares.

@ Ass Fag
"There are lots of people who enjoy Seth Rogens movies...(nobody contests that there aren't legions of retarded slackers with no taste)...that's why he's famous and successful...(not if he keeps pinching off hideous dog turds like SUPERBAD)...and you're some loser posting on a movie blog...(unlike you, I don't consider this the summit of my endeavors so I'm okay with writing on a movie blog)...So please save your bitching for someone who cares...(no, I'll go ahead and annoy the special needs citizens who would defend a splattering shit blast like SUPERBAD)."
