Oct 1 2008New 'Australia' Trailer: A Romantic Adventure with Wolverine and The Others
If Crocodile Dundee II were a big-budget Lifetime Original Movie based loosely on Pearl Harbor, this is what it would look like. Except this is directed by Moulin Rouge's Baz Luhrmann, stars Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, and will surely be nominated for several Oscars, whereas the Lifetime version would be called Danielle Steel's Down Under, and would be watched by only sad housewives. It looks pretty good if you're into that whole sweeping, epic romance sort of thing (no one is judging you):

But there will be big-time singing and dancing, right? It can't be a Luhrman flick without some big show-stopping dance numbers.

i love that it's being released on Thanksgiving, which is a holiday entirely irrelevant to the Australian people, their culture, and history...

Y'know, I LOVED both "Romeo+Juliet" and "Moulin Rouge!", but even the 2-minute complete summary of "Australia" was too much. What made the stereotypical, time-worn romance of the former two films work was Baz's cinematic style... Without it, it really just seems like crap.

"Welcome to Oh-stray-ya"

I swear most of us can pronounce Australia properly. I swear!
