Oct 22 2008More of That 'Watchmen' Movie
For those of you who missed the Scream Awards last night, first off, what were you thinking??? Secondly, here's the new trailer for Watchmen that debuted.
I forget, did the comic have this much slow motion and so many dramatic landings?
Playing "The Times They Are a-Changin'" for the Watchmen cast and crew. GET IT?

Nice burn, IWATCHSTUFF, that dude seriously overuses the slow mo.
2. Elmo - October 22, 2008 11:52 AM
you hear that winding-down of the music? the slo-mo may be a theme to the whole movie, since it's so tripped out...
3. MorpheusDream - October 22, 2008 11:55 AM
oh wow 4 new scenes im so impressed. no seriously it still looks badass. unless that thing about snyder changing the ending is true, i which case im going to have to become an international terrorist. but only in the search for zack snyder.

No, that music is all part of the Smashing Pumpkins song their using.
Assuming you meant it was something else.
Or maybe I completely misunderstood...
ANYWAY...am I the only one glad about the change they've made to the movie's ending? I devoured the graphic novel, but the only ONE thing about it I didn't like was the...uh....well........thing that they've removed in the movie. It seemed too.......i dunno........lame.

I can hear Alan Moore rolling his eyes from here.
6. snoopy - October 22, 2008 1:30 PM
not really a whole lot of new footage there...... and it does look like they change the ending....
7. Eddie - October 22, 2008 1:32 PM
Damn this still looks good. I am still pissed that they changed the original bad ass ending.

Alan Moore shouldnt, its looking good and i hope besides all the details, Snyder will stick to the story as much as he can, he should.. and the ending the screening audience got is a fluke imho, atleast i hope so, and it could definately be, over 4,5 months til release still..

I will see this and the fanboy-side of my brain will hate it ("Movie, why aren't you EXACTLY like the book!") and the movie-magpie-side of my brain will love it ("Oooo, shiny!") Then, my whole brain will explode in gloppy chunks of love and hate.

Dudes, I just can't let this go. I have to say something. Too much slo-mo? WTF? Comic books only have one speed. The speed with which you read them. The slow motion used in the film will probably most likely be used to accentuate parts of the movie that are representative of the frames drawn into the novel. So stop complaining, you bunch of r-tards. j/k.
Looks just fine to me. Either ending (though preferrably the original) will work.

They didn't change the ending. Look it up. It's been said time and time again, the squid is in.

Sooooo is this the prequel to Wall-E?
13. Daniel - October 22, 2008 4:14 PM
Good point JL, really comic book movies should just be picture frames with subtitles if you want to get super accurate.
Or, alternatively, release watchmen as a 12 part HBO series, and each scene shot in super slow motion can make up an hour long episode.
I would have liked that trailer, but there was about 3 seconds that weren't slow motion, and it totally lost my attention.
14. navvywavvy - October 22, 2008 5:17 PM
How much you wanna bet Jeffrey Dean Morgan hasn't even seen a rough cut of the movie?
15. whistle - October 22, 2008 5:25 PM
JL, if you don't think Snyder uses too much slow mo after seeing 300 and the trailer for Watchmen, you must either have a brain too slow to process things happening in normal speed or you are simply the r-tard.

So was the part with them kissing confirmation of the ending being completely different from before, because I don't remember that part happening like that at all....the whole point of his plan working was that it was absurd....I don't like this new supposed new ending one bit!

Omg I completely forgot about the Scream Awards o.o' Thanks for posting this :o

the kiss was from nite-owl II's dream with him and that hot chick he bangs WHICH IS IN THE MOVIE, FUCK YEA SEAKING!
19. Kenny - October 22, 2008 8:24 PM
YEAH! thanks badman it's been a long time since I've read the comic so I completely forgot about that part, this gives me hope for the squid!!

Clever, Daniel, clever.
@#15 Whistle,
I do think there was way too much in 300, I just didn't think it was worth mentioning. 300 sucks and there is no arguing otherwise. But, Watchmen has some really cool, and often iconic imagery, and I can understand why Snyder would incorporate slo-mo in the movie.

Having read the graphic novel I don't have a problem with snyder changing the ending around. I think both ideas would work for this movie. It's just a good story. I like the new footage too. Especially of Rorshach using his grapple gun to get into the Comedians apartment. Can't Wait!
22. kncs - October 23, 2008 7:40 PM
really tight 2nd trailer, snyder has really worked on the color correction part which is similar to the graphic novel color pallette,i hope he has used the slow mo in a cleverly manner bt personally it looks fresh......rorshach's morphing mask looks cool to.damn cant wait for the mvie.......

This just keeps getting better and better. I'm a huge fan of the Graphic Novel and this just looks so much like it, scene for scene. My only concern is how the new ending works.
24. Nate - November 3, 2008 9:30 AM
Don't know what to think about the new ending, if it is indeed happening. Either way, movie will rule, and the adaptation will be as close as it could possibly be.
25. Amy - November 13, 2008 5:55 AM
I just love the way Watchmen trailers give you absolutely no idea of what the movie will actually about for the unititiated - basically, it's guys in costumes and lots of explosions.
Also, whatever the reason for the unsquiddy ending, I don't think it can be called "a fluke" - movie endings don't just fall together by themselves.
