Oct 29 2008'Delgo' Trailer Finds New Level of CGI Creepiness
When computer-animated characters border on reality but don't quite reach it, a point is reached called the "uncanny valley", making the slightly-off characters "fucking creepy." Delgo, the Romeo & Juliet romance meets the stilted comedy and battles of The Phantom Menace animated movie, never comes anywhere near reaching that, but it does necessitate the creation of a new term of CGI discomfort. What should we call the intersection point of animated simian, fairy, and V's lizard-aliens? Besides horrible to look at.
Here's the trailer for Delgo, which vocally reunites the Freddie Prinze Jr./Jennifer Love Hewitt romance of I Know What You Did Last Summer (you wanted that, right?):
Was that Val Kilmer's voice you heard? Yes, that was Val Kilmer. He's not above a Delgo here and there.

wow...
why would someone sign on to work on something with a (implied) "straight to dvd" guarantee clause in the contract.
i think toy story had better cgi.

I tried to watch the trailer but had to stop. It's really, really bad. I don't know who greenlights this kind of crap. I mean, if it was an all CGI version of Never Back Down, THEN I'd go see it (to check out the shadows' accuracy).

looks like a heartwarming thrillride to me - can't hardly wait!

Judging by the cast credits, I think a lot of people lost a very important bet.

Please don't bring that Never Back Down bullshit here. I'm just about completely given up on the comments section on geekologie ever letting that stupid (as in never was it funny) die.

As much as I hate to say it, I don't think any other phrase could describe my first thoughts when I saw this post and actually tried to watch a little bit of the trailer (curiosity killed the cat and all that).
So, in the immortal words of John McClane (and many other less awesome people who said it):
What the fuck?

I just watched that without sound and it looks like a huge piece of shit.

Dude, I Know What You Did Last Summer was totally Ryan Phillippe and JLH. Freddy Prinze Jr was a tiny wee thing then!

Skip this crap. I saw a cut of it at a test screening in August 2007 in NYC, and while some of the battle scenes were cool, the whole Zen-ninja thing with the rocks practiced by the pacifistic tribe without the wings was hokey as hell, and Chris Kataan's character was so fucking annoying that I wanted to reach into the screen to strangle him. I didn't make any observations about the Uncanny Valley, but obviously, it's hard to take the romance aspect seriously, given how ugly the lizard women are. Drop off the kids, and pick 'em up when it's over. Pixar, this definitely was not.

At least they threw in a crotch-hit joke

This sadly, is not "straight-to-DVD". They have been playing it in theatres for over a month around here; as a coming soon to theatres.
It looked like shit the first time and still looks like shit!
Why would you agree to make something called Delgo and then continue to make it after you read the script and see the concept art.
Horrible!

When your headline actor is The Human Crappifier aka Freddie Prinze, Jr., you're just looking at a long steady downhill spiral of actors looking for a paycheck/recognition/community service for shoplifting and/or DUI charges. The only thing missing was Rob Schneider.
Now that I think about it, Rob Schneider wouldn't even do this movie. That is sad.

This is finally being released?
Whoa. They've had a site/trailer for like 2 years, I never thought they'd get it done :s

This looks like the animation in those crappy straight-to-DVD Barbie movies... but the characters aren't as hot.... or appealing... no wait.... hot. Yeah. Barbie's hot. I said it.

Is this what happens to all the DeVry graduates?

I can't believe I'm gonna be late to work for checking this out...
...my life has certainly gone downhill quickly. Even faster than Chris Kattan's.
Hi-yo!

Snoodle, this movie has been in the works for longer than 2 years. On Wikipedia, you can go back to 2004 but it's been in the works longer than that. The Wayback Machine has archives of the Delgo site going back to 2001...

So I was about to make a Delgo Enemy Mine joke to myself when I saw Lou Gossett, Jr. in the credits and frowned, because Delgo had foreseen this and taken it away from me.
