I hope no one is at all protective or in any way concerned about the video game God of War, because it's probably about to become a film from the sweaty freak known as Brett Ratner. From UGO:
We caught up with him recently and confirmed either your greatest dream or biggest fear: Brett Ratner is indeed making a movie based on the video game series, God of War. Honestly, I love the Kratos games, however, they aren’t exactly the deepest when it comes to story, so he might just be the right person to handle the film adaptation.
Is there really someone in Hollywood who doesn't realize we've already solved the equation Successful Video Game + Terrible Director = X?

I think Ratner gets a bad wrap unfairly. The first two rush hour movies were fun, Red Dragon isn't that bad and let's be fair, that whole X3 thing was not his fault. He came into the movie a couple weeks before it started shooting and did what he could. That was a studio error all the way.
With that said, he is NOT the guy for this. This would be way more up Del Toro's alley, it's too bad he has so much on his plate. This needs to be done by someone who is visually creative, imaginative, has a good grasp on how to tastefully use creature effects and can find a way to mix action and quality acting with out compromising either. Shame, this had potential to be more than a video game movie. It could easily be a fantasy classic in the right hands.

What the fuck this was a great game that he's gonna fuck up just like everything he touches. Isn't their a shitty game out their that he can fuck up why did it have to be God of War.

This could be a great movie and the story in the first game is pretty deep as it is. Ratner is a talentless fucking hack cunt though! I wish someone would kill him.

I don't much care for the game, which I thought was pretentious and irreverent. So I hope Ratner makes a crappy movie and it bombs, killing the franchise. Heh.

ratner blows. i liked the first two rush hours, third one sucked, just like X3. he kills series, and other than rush hours 1 and 2 i cant think of a good movie of his. this movie would be badass done by like frank miller (he did 300 right?) or someone of that caliber.
