Well, it was only a matter of time: Helena Bonham Carter has been cast as the Red Queen in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Just like she was cast in Planet of the Apes, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Sweeney Todd--every Tim Burton film for the last eight years. Anne Hathaway is in it now too. From THR:

Anne Hathaway, who is generating buzz for her performance in "Rachel Getting Married," has signed for a role in "Alice in Wonderland," which Tim Burton is directing for Disney.

Helena Bonham Carter also has joined the film.

The movie, which stars Mia Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, will use a combination of live action and performance-capture technology to tell the Lewis Carroll story.

Hathaway is playing the White Queen, a benevolent monarch who is deposed and banished by her sister, the Red Queen (Carter), who has an affinity for crying out, "Off with their heads!" The White Queen needs Alice to slay a creature known as the Bandersnatch.

The news comes as a shock only to Helena Bonham Carter, who has just learned she's probably being dumped for Anne Hathaway.

I have now completely lost what little interest I ever had in this.

P.S. I'd rather see John Malkovich as the Hatter.

I don't care that Hathaway is in this now, I always wanted to see it

It's not Hathaway, it's Carter. Nothing against her, it just serves as confirmation that there won't be anything new to this. I've seen Tim Burton's movie.

Tim Burton is casting Johnny Depp and Helena Bonam Carter in one of his movies? get the fuck out of here, no way! I never would have guessed. Boom! totally out of the blue!

#6 - I know! It totally caught me by surprise too. You know what else would be cool? If Christopher Lee was in it somewhere too! Or maybe Danny Elfman could do the music. That would be so original.

well, fuck you, I love all those movies
and it's dumb shits like you who think that they're all the same

Look the way it goes is One Blowjob = One Starring Role.

And that's quite fair - have you seen what Tim Burton looks like?

I don't know, I can see Carter screaming "Off with their heads!" at random (which she probably does quite frequently). I like her playing a crazy character as opposed to a sane one (See: "Conversations with Other Women")...

Hathaway I'm unsure about....the only memory I really have of the White Queen is Carol Channing who was nuts (and my favorite)

Helena Bonham Carter's face is so small, and Anne Hathaway's face is so big.

Do u want to know more things about it? check **Fitness Loving. Com** , it will not let u down, detail and interesting.

It makes me think terrible thoughts like, how many times has Carter been in the middle of a manwich of Depp and Burton. Because there's clearly something going on there.

#13 - take out burton and I'll take carter's place any day (c:

She was in Planet of the Apes, but I don't think she was with him yet. If you recall, his previous wife her name is, i shit you not, Lisa Marie, has a small role in Planet of the Apes. She was also in Mars Attacks and Sleepy Hollow. I only know this because she was cousin of someone I used to work with. She is completely ordinary in everyway.

Also, Tim Burton's "quirky" style is over for me. Until he deviates from it, I'm not really interested in him anymore. Edward Scissorhands was a great movie though.

dude, malkovich as the mad hatter, fuck yes

I know I'm gonna watch this
I know I'm gonna love this
and I HATE myself for it!!
I love the casting, the designs, ect ect.
But Im so dissapointed in the origanal contents they're using
there IS a frikking difference between the 'Red Queen' and 'Queen of hearts' would it hurt to have booooth?
and the white queen
also I'm angry at the 'older alice' thing
I mean...GAH but I know I'll like it.
