Oct 8 2008All Those Batman Rumors MIGHT Not Be Accurate

Dark Knight screenwriter David Goyer recently spoke to MTV about all the rumors of casting, story, and the involvement of Christopher Nolan circling the next Batman movie. Basically (literally) he says it's all bullshit:

Whether it’s that Chris Nolan has signed on, and will start pre-production early next year, or that Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman will play the villains, or that Cher (Cher!) is lining up to wear Catwoman’s claws, there’s one thing that each and every supposed scoop has in common, “Batman Begins” and “Dark Knight” storyman David Goyer told MTV News:

“It’s all B.S.,” he said. “ALL of it.”

That means, no, Nolan has not signed on (yet). No, there is no casting, let alone TALK, of villains, and, no, nobody is certain to return.

“Chris and I haven’t even talked about it. He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself,” Goyer said.

His choice of words is interesting: "long, long"... " "purge"...

Sounds to me like someone is hinting that they're adapting the Batman comic The Long Halloween into a film with America's Funniest Home Videos' and Dancing with the Stars' Tom Bergeron (berge sounds sort of like purge) as the Riddler. For some reason no other blogs seem to have caught that, but I'm picking up what you're laying down, David Goyer.

I heard the next Batman movie will be a musical.

I for one, sir, am appalled. Appalled and disgusted to hear such rumors are spreading on the internet!

0H no! Hopefully a long, long vacation doezn't mean NEVER. 0h Boiiiiiz. BRING US MORE BATMAN PL0X!!!!!

Holy crap who predicted that one!?! Cause Chris Nolan is always so chatty about details of his upcoming super secret movies well over two years in advance. But all kidding aside, anyone who actualy (even for a split-second) believed that they would cast Cher as catwoman should go drown themselves in the deep fryer. I predicit if they did, riots would ensue.

@1, I heard that too.

High School Musical, the Batman year

dope scene.

whats the difference between you and me???
IM NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADS

they should cast mini-me as mini-freeze in the next one

I guess that means Zac Efron is playing Robin. Sounds like a winner.

But I'm a little concerned about Bale's ability to sing in his bat-mask, since he can barely even talk in it without growling.

aww I was really looking forward to Philip Seymour Hoffman and Johnny Depp to be in the next one :(
maybe Nolan will want them in it now...

Npo one picked up on it cause it's really stretching, dude. Kinda makes me chuckle, it's such a reach.

haha. nice joke mr. i watch stuff.

you are quickly becoming the funniest of the three. but in all honesty, you're not competing with much since the superficial writer has e.d.

I heard Shia LeBouef is going to be Nightwing, and the Joker comes back as a tank.

You misunderstood the quote. "It's all B.S" means "It's all Batman Sequel".

Just so long as we can have a love interest that has some chemistry to it next time...I'll be happy.

LOL @ 12

@7, not to get all geeky serious as I've yet to see any of these batguy movies all the way thru but apparently they modified Bale's voice to make it sound that way on purpose.

I either read that on IMDB or the bathroom wall, I can't remember.

@15 and 7,

I'm [not] surprised people don't get that. Batman bases his whole getup on INTIMIDATION. Nobody would be scared of Michael Keaton or Val Kilmer in tights (scratch Val Kilmer, if he comes at me in tights I'd run). If some dude with a voice likes Bats' yells at me in an alley, I'd be scared sh!tless.

Anyways, I'm glad none of the rumors are true. I don't really want another Bats-flick, TDK was epic enough to go out with a bang.

@16

Finally! Someone GETs it! Anyone who complains about the voice should go back and watch Batman Begins and find out what the whole theme of that movie was.

Go to the part where Alfred asks him, "why bats sir?" Go and find out what was the last thing Bruce's father told him just b4 he died.

It's all about intimidation.
