Sep 3 2008'Zack and Miri Make a Porno' Trailer is Sort of Funny?
Speaking as someone who can barely tolerate the Kevin Smith catalog, I hate to admit it, but judging by this trailer, Zack and Miri Make a Porno looks pretty palatable, and possibly even funny. In fact, with the heavily Apatowian cast and joke-stylings, I'd barely be able to identify this as a Smith film if it weren't for the expected cameos by Jason Mewes and Clerk. If nothing else, I recommend watching to at least hear The Office's Craig Robinson say "a Star War." It might be lifted from Arrested Development, but it's still got legs.
Oh, and it's not appropriate for your stodgy old workplace.

You're basing that on what? The number of other bombs that Rogen's responsible for? Oh, wait..
I know this is a Kevin Smith movie, and they don't tend to make money... but c'mon. Like it or not, this is his most marketable movie to date.

Smith, despite being ubiquitous in pop culture's eye, is still, remarkably, an indie filmmaker. Much like how Wes Anderson still gets to make movies, Smith and Mosier have enough foresight to know that their audience is a niche market, so their budgets are usually EXTREMELY low (Chasing Amy was 275,000 dollars. Their highest budget was 20 million for Jay and Bob). The Weinsteins keep him around because he turns a profit for the company, and that's more than what most directors can say.
and yes, this will probably be his most successful movie.

As weird as it seems to say it, I'm actually looking forward to not seeing Jason and Kevin as Jay and Silent Bob. It would be cool to see if Jason Mewes could actually BE an actor instead of the farce of one.

Oooh, the soft chewey center is revealed. Will making a porno ruin a lifelong friendship? Can they separate the pragmatism of having sex for money from their feelings for each other? What a load of crap. It's the same movie as a dozen others with a scoop of dirty curiousity on top. People who are excited about this movie are too easily titilated.

I love Seth Rogen...and as to Kevin Smith? i'm 50/50 I loved Clerks, I liked Clerks II, I laughed at..............Clerks and........huh oh! Dogma, I liked Dogma and the Clerks animated series delivered teh funny for me so...dammit.
