Sep 18 2008New Bond Theme Sounds a Lot Like a Coke Commercial
It's normal for me to wake up with yet another reason to die, but today, thanks to IWS reader SunKing, I was surprised to awaken to Another Way To Die--the new Jack White/Alicia Keys Bond theme, that is! It's the kind of grating song that assures you it's fine if you show up to the theater a few minutes late. Don't get me wrong; it's far better than Chris Cornell's Casino Royale theme, but since it isn't 1994, that isn't that huge of an accomplishment.

It's fine I guess... sounds just like it would? That isn't very constructive but... no one cares

Chris Cornell's theme sucked. It's the only part of the first film I don't enjoy.
And I love Soundgarden. Truth hurts.

Ugh. I had to come back to comment on that song.
It's... 'good,' but not a Bond theme song. Damn it, I like Jack White is one of my guitar heroes, too. He's just not right for a Bond theme song, however. I hate to say this (I really, really do) but Amy Winehouse would have been better. Too bad she's overdosing on 'marijuana.' (For those of you without a sense of sarcasm, that's impossible. I've been trying for years).

Maybe it's because I've always loved the Bond films...but I generally like the songs for them. (My least fave was "All Time High" by Rita Coolidge). Even "The Living Daylights" by a-ha and "Die Another Day" by Madonna grew on me.
I loved "Casino Royale" and look forward to "Quantum of Solace." The theme for the former reflected Bond's isolation. After listening to the latter, it sounds like this theme will focus on his "damaged goods" status.
That second trailer looks freakin' awesome! The rest of you fags can go beat your monkey to Vin Diesel or Matt Damon.

eh it's not the worst bond theme ever. Obviously it will never compare to the Goldfinger theme, but then nothing will.

its not that bad of a song...but i cant imagine it going well with the storyline. its a bit too light and upbeat. should be a bit darker, less poppy with more style.

aww shit they aren't gonna be singing at times throughout the movie are they?!
that bugs me. It should be just instramental, damnit

Oh come on man, You Know My Name is a great song and fit the movie perfectly.

I don't really like Alicia Keys, nor do I think Jack White is appropriate for a Bond film. The track sounds okay, better if Alicia Keys doesnt song, I can't stand her. And I agree with #6, that Amy Winehouse would have been more appropriate, too bad she couldn't get her act together or this would have been better.
I also agree with #10, this should be darker, rather than poppy.
Oh well.

Oh fuck me sideways that's the new theme?! I couldn't even finish listening to it. Ugh....
UGH!!! GARBAGE!
I'm so glad though at least the movie will be great, and I guess that's what's most important...but still...

wow there are some bad bond songs, but that takes the cake. Nothing about it is Bond at all. OOOO THERE ARE STABBY STRINGS! big deal. its just dull and undramatic. bah. BAH. I'm all for artists having their particular 'sounds' but the tiny bits of the jack-white-signature-guitar sound didn't mesh with the rest of the track. Didn't seem like there was much to mesh with anyway.
That is now officially the first opinionated internet-bitching comment I've ever left. Go me! Tweet Tweet.
