Sep 9 2008'Duke Nukem' Movie Will Hopefully Get Made as Quickly as 'Duke Nukem Forever' (Never)

Producer Scott Faye, currently finishing work on Max Payne, has recently realized there was another video game franchise that hadn't been made into a movie yet. This bothers him, so he's going to make a Duke Nukem movie. UGH:

“I'm working diligently at making a Duke Nukem movie scenario that will live up to the character and its import in the videogame world,” said Faye. “As is the case with all of my game adaptations, I'd rather not make the movie than make a poor adaptation.”

“With the two new games coming out based on Duke Nukem, I'm working at establishing a Duke film scenario that will compel a studio to finance a feature version,” said Faye. “Certainly, there's a large audience that knows and loves this character.”

But wait. Isn't the character of Duke Nukem basically just a parodic fusion of Stallone/Schwarzenegger-style action heroes, Clint Eastwood's voice, and Bruce Campbell's Army of Darkness quips (literally the exact same quips), which would make for a terrible, unbelievable lead character? And if they changed things enough to make it feasible enough for a film, wouldn't that just alienate the hardcore fans who are the only ones who would bother paying to see it in the first place? Yes, definitely. That's the way of the video game movie.

ahhh I've never heard of it

knock knock

whos there?

BOLL HERE .., DUKE NUKEM'S MA MUVIE BITCH!!!!111

NO NO NO, Boll is forbidden from touching the Duke. Some of my fondest videogame memories are still locked into my first clocking of Duke Nukem 3D. I think it would be a fucking awesome movie. As long as people understand it's just for shits and giggles I think it would be hugely enjoyable.

Its Time To Killl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually think this could work. Just make it real gory and use absolutely no CGI. It could be the next Army of Darkness.....

Dolph Lundgren!!!11 Alright fine he's a little old, but the duke always looked pretty haggard to me back in the day too.

uuhhh.. no. it'd make an awesome movie.

I don't really remember any quips from 'Army of Darkness' (but a lot of those were in Monolith's 'Blood').

Duke's appearance is largely based on Roddy Piper in 'They Live' - complete with the infamous 'bubble gum & kick ass' line.

Wonder if they can get Kurt rusell to play Duke? I always thought Duke looked like Kurt anyway, just that these days Kurt is doing kids shows alot.

Course he did that Tarantino thing so maybe!

Next up: Serious Sam!

Hey, maybe they'll make a "House of the Dead" movie, since that game came out the same year as "Duke Nukem 3D!"

Oh, wait.

It could be kinda fun if they made it a really crazy, campy, over-the-top action flick that refuses to take itself seriously, yet is still entertaining. Kind of like the "Escape from..." series and other such films. It should be filled with one huge muscular hero, hundreds of huge guns, girls with huge boobs, huge badguys getting killed in huge bursts of blood, and huge explosions.

But yeah, who am I kidding? It'll probably just be lame.

Eat shit and die.

Yeah, Duke nuken was cool, back when we were what, 10? This is going to be another crappy film.

Thanks Youu
