Sep 24 2008Brett Ratner Wants Storm and Joker Movies So Bad
Brett Ratner, the man who directed X-Men 3 and is currently pleading with Activision to make a Guitar Hero film, has some bang-up new ideas for superhero movies. In short, he thinks they should be diluted with more spin-offs, and that he probably should have directed the Batman films:
“As a kid, Batman was my thing,” Ratner said. “I’m a little jealous that I didn’t get to direct it, although Nolan did a great job. But there are so many characters in the Batman series, so many characters that I love, that the opportunities for spin-offs are endless.”Ratner thinks that the first one should be a film just about the Joker, exploring his (possible) origin as the Red Hood.
“Heath was great,” Ratner said. “But the Joker is a great villain. That’s why Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger had so much to work with. And I think there will be another actor who can interpret that. It would be great to see [Robert] Downey [Jr.] as the Joker, for instance.”
Ratner doesn’t want to stop there. If the opportunities for spin-offs in the Batman universe are endless, what about the rest of comic-book-dom? For the “X-Men,” for instance, Ratner is excited about the upcoming Wolverine spin-off, but he thinks one is warranted for Halle Berry’s character, Storm, as well. “That would be great,” he said. “That would be really cool.”
Yes, B-Rat, there should be more Batman spin-offs and more Halle Berry-based spin-offs. Watch Catwoman and say that again.

fuck that guy! what an asshole
those guys weren't great at the joker because the nerd who wrote the comic book was a great writer
*cause he's not a great writer*
that movie was so bitchen because what the director did and where Heath Ledger took the Joker
...that guy always pisses me off.... sorry :P

Nobody should comment on this thread just because RAT-ner is the king of douches... he makes Speidi look like decent human beings... hey asshole, if there's so many great characters in comic book mythosm why'd you invent brand new ones for X-3? Go fuck a dog....

Wow - the B-rat looks a lot like a fat less pasty version of Heath's Joker combined with a fat pasty version of Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark. I can see the love in his sweaty flabby face for all these characters... so much love. What humility too! Even though his genius interpretation of Batman didn't make it to screens, he is humble enough to admit Nolan did "a great job."
Well played Ratner, well played...

Hate this guy. Hate him.

God I really hate this guy. So he made a few good movies that made us laugh and he thinks he is greatness. I think we need to "Take Care Of Him". If you know what I mean?

Dear Brett Ratner,
Rush Hour was at times entertaining, but otherwise killed the occasional movie erection I would get from watching Jackie Chan movies such as, "Rumble in the Bronx" and "Who Am I?".
But more importantly, X-Men 3 sucked. I don't even like Bryan Singer and his equally homosexual movies; but X-Men renewed my interest in comics, and x2 sealed it.
Most importantly; if you are ever allowed near a Batman movie, I will personally kick the shit out of you.

Didn't Robert Downey Jr say.. Fuck you, DC?
Oh yeah, he did

Brett Ratner couldn't direct a decent PORNO with all the money, all the starlets and all the time in the world! Judging by others comments my opinion isn't isolated. Why the FUCK do studios continue to employ him?? Everything he touches turns to shit. Please god let him nowhere near anymore superhero movies!
13. 1manarmy - September 24, 2008 2:05 PM
He should stay far far away from comic book movies X3 sucked and yes Joker is a great written character but Rattner isn't the one to do his origin.
And as hot as Halle Berry is she sucked as Storm.

Cockmaster Douche.

The Red Hood? I mean, I knew this guy wasn't the brightest when it came to movies, but a Red Hood movie? He has absolutely no sense, whatsoever.
16. Mr. Jones - September 24, 2008 2:20 PM
X-men 3 was a total turd. Yeah, Hollywood, have this douchebag direct your superhero movie in order to kill your franchise.

Quick Fuck, Marry or Kill...
Joe Francis, AJ Benza or Bret Ratner...
Kill all three douche bags!!!!
Which one is greasier? At least Joe got barely legel girls to show some titties...

I don't know about you guys, but personally, for me...
Brett "The Rat" Ratner is becoming the new Uwe Boll.
19. TetraShiva - September 24, 2008 3:39 PM
@18
I almost made a comment about him being the "successful version of Uwe Bowl," but really he only had success with one film series that relied on a tested and true film star (Jackie Chan) with a load annoying black guy to make him palatable for American audiences (one guess).
X3 was shit, and wouldn't have made nearly as much money if the first 2 weren't so good.
I really hate this guy.
20. Jecka - September 24, 2008 3:52 PM
oh man, if only you guys hated Tim Burton this much, well i.... i would personally love you all. all night long.

i can understand a wolverine spinoff
people care about wolverine, he was remotely important...
but storm?
who gives a fuck about storm?
22. Herner_Wartzhog - September 24, 2008 6:56 PM
Ill keep this simple, keep him the fuck away from batman or any of the component parts.
23. JL - September 24, 2008 7:31 PM
@#21,
Wolverine isn't remotely important. He's the only badass X Man ever imagined in the X Men comics. Probably the only thing that kept that comic book going all these years.
Ratner is a fucktard.

Didn't RDJ go on an anti-Dark Knight ramble not long ago...
25. qazwsx - September 24, 2008 8:59 PM
This guy's a piece of shit hack Hollywood insider who only got where he is because he grew up rich. He's everything that's wrong with the world. Fuck him in his fat ass.
26. angela - September 24, 2008 9:27 PM
I can safely say RDJ was just playing around. Anyway...
I care about Storm ;) Just not Halle Berry's portrayal.
Brett Ratner taking over the rebooted Batman franchise will be a Tim Burton -- Joel Schumacher nightmare.

Thankyou for all of the Ratner quotes, I find them to be some of the most entertaining material I read throughout the day.
I've haven't found Ratner this incompetent since I watched the X3 commentary, where he talks about how he knew nothing of the comics when shooting. He actually admitted that.
Also, who the hell keeps asking Ratner for movie ideas? Who are these people that think what he says is relevent or intelligent? Probably the people who let him make Rush Hour 3.
28. Loose Screw - September 27, 2008 5:30 PM
Good God!!! No one wants Storm with Halle Berry.
Guitar Hero? That's not even a real "game". It's like a Wii Fit for exercising, but with fingers.
