Aug 20 2008WB Responds to Fan Freakout Over 'Harry Potter' Delay
Warner Brothers President Alan Horn has issued an official statement in response to the backlash over the moving of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from November to July. Apparently we were all way off, and the decision was not made because of money. It's more about rationing out our dwindling supply of nature's most precious non-renewable resource, child wizard movies:
Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" to Summer 2009.Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability.
The decision to move "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.
If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between "Half-Blood Prince" and the much-anticipated first part of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," which opens in November 2010.
So although we have to wait a little longer for "Half-Blood Prince," the wait from that film until "Deathly Hallows" will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.
Alan Horn
President, Chief Operating Officer
Warner Bros.
Why does this sound so much like a parent explaining a divorce to a kid? "Don't worry, Daddy still loves Mommy, and would never do anything to hurt her. We've tried to the best of our ability for the last ten years, but it just isn't working out. We never meant for this to hurt you. And look at it this way: now you'll get two Christmases! Only one will be much later, and unfortunately your mom's new friend 'Chad' will be at one." If I cared about Harry Potter movies, I would not feel better about this.

But I don't like Chad!
Personally, I think the silver-lining in this news is the return of the sad wizard clip-art, perched upon Harry Potter's shoulder.

that silver lining is BULLSHIT because they took the two year wait between DH and HBP and just turned it into a 2 year wait between OotP and HBP!! there was going to be a wait for DH no matter what, that date is set for what it is. instead of moving THAT one forward, they are moving the other back. and DH is being made into 2 films because the WB wants more money while they claim to suddenly "care" about the accuracy of the book carried out in the film!
AL THEY WANT IS MONEY, which as a movie studio makes sense, but to sink SO low as to delay a FINISHED film by an additional 8 months because they think they can cash in on a summer blockbuster (like HP will be the necked Dark Knight- YEAH RIGHT!!!!) is a disgusting abuse of a franchise they bought but don't actually give a shit about despite their best assurances to the contrary.
Guess what, WB, WE ARE NOT YOUR FANS! we are HP fans, and we are not happy and we are NOT seeing HBP opening weekend. have a happy summer, douche-fags.
Im seeing X-Men Origins: Wolverine, thank you very much. much love to Fox Studios.

And Pepper delivers with the angry rants yet again! I haven't seen rabid fan-boy-ism like that since the last time I defended new Star Wars material. What I'm trying to say is that I think I love you.

...but not as much as I love Sad Wizard. Sorry.

Insult to injury, that.
Look on the bright side, Tommy. Now that you've had your feet cut off, you'll never have to buy shoes again!

Nice!
Chuckled so hard the soda came out my nose. I guess I needed a reason to change this semen encrusted t-shirt.

It'll give us so much time to watch "T.J. Rollin's Harry Potter and the prisoners of Abu Ghraib"
What the fuzz man?

If semen wasn't enough to get you change the shirt why is a little soda making you change it

i luv star wars too. I am not seeing the new movie bc it looks like a crap-tastic lame-ass attempt at sucking more money out of me. i love all 6 films, but if i wanted to see unrealistic computer animated SW i would watch Lego-Starwars.

why are they always trying to distract us from the fact that HBP is almost a year away now? their first statement highlighted the fact the OotP generated the second highest revenue in the series while briefly mentioning that the first movie, which was released in November made the most. they conveniently forgot to mention that the only other movie in the franchise that was released in the summer made the least of all!
now, they're directing our attention to a movie that hasn't even been made while they hold onto a completely finished movie for an extra 8 months?
this is RIDIKKULUS!
